Hey all,
Recently purchased a New 2025 LC 4WD with Premium package and a few other bells and whistle that it was ordered with.
I was actually at the dealership to compare a used T4R ORP and a GX460 so I could do a bit of a build. I previously did a mild build on a 2017 T4R LE with a full suspension change, tires, wheels.
When I was sitting with the sales guy and contemplating out the door costs of about $50k and probably $10k for suspension, wheels, tires, bumpers, roof racks, and another $10k for a supercharger (T4R) they backed Scrubs in behind me into the showroom and the rest is history.
I had done a fair bit of research on the LC250 and tried to negotiate one previously but the dealers were marking them up 5k in the Fall.
I think the low traffic due to the snow on MLK day in NJ made things a little easier to negotiate.
So I drove Scrubs home and it’s been about a week and 400 miles in and things are going well.
First week musings - it doesn’t feel slow like some reviews say, but if you drive it fast it guzzles gas. Thankfully it’s vibe discourages heavy foot syndrome.
I had done my homework on the powertrain - all I’ll say is that it is cool that when you put the shoe down she goes, but if you drive her soft she’ll easily get north of 20mpg - I posted 22mpg taking my son to hockey yesterday - an hour each way of highway city mix and that’s with it not broken in and it’s pretty cold.
I’m also a realist - if this truck was available with the V6 turbo I would have spec’d it with that motor, but you can’t and I decided against the GX550 because the ride is different, there aren’t any tactile buttons and I wanted to cut the front bumper up on day one which doesn’t make sense for a $72k Lexus.
The 20” wheels and road orientated tires are disappointing - but I suspect that is to ensure that as delivered the truck can achieve MPG.
It’s chunky, it’s noisy, it goes when you want it to, it sips gas when you baby it - so while high tech and refined it gives you a feeling like it’s rustic - if you move past the cost and any preconceived notions on what a $70k truck should be - it’s very enjoyable to be in.
It also looks amazing and it’s the right size when your other family vehicle is a suburban.
Mods - I think I’m going to drive it for a bit, but Wescott 1.5” spacer/leveling kit, 18” wheels and some Wildpeaks should correct the tire issue and hopefully not crush the MPG.
Sorry folks - that was a long intro, and it is not my ambition to drive conversations specifically to any of these items for which there are ample threads - but it was a cathartic brain dump.
Also - Toyota Land Cruiser = TLC from which came Scrubs. My wife’s idea, there’s probably alot of LC250s named scrubs out there as I can’t imagine that’s original.
