Hood Solar panel?

Anyone have experience on these? Doesn't have to be on the LC250 platform, generally what are they good for and want to see if they are safe to have on the hood? (overheating, fire hazard, etc.)

I don't really do offroad/overlanding stuff, but do plan on adding a few extra lights down the road, will the solar panel help in powering those extra loads or do I need a better alternator/battery combo instead.

Hood-sized solar is going to do very little beyond charging a cellular phone or tickle charging a battery backup system. Typically you wouldn't use them for direct power but for charging another system that provides direct power.
