I've tried getting my heated seats to warm up with remote start daily for the last 2 weeks. They simply don't heat up until I get in, start the engine and turn the heated seats on.
When I remote start, I first pull up the little arrow and select heated seats under "Climate" and the seat image turns red and states "Heat".
I then select "Save Settings" and select Remote Start. I'll go out 8-9 minutes later and the seats are not heated, and the cabin is extremely cold (even though I've set climate to 99 degrees and turned on front and rear defroster.).
The temps have been in the high teens/low 20's.
Anyone have the same issues?
Thank you.

Just tried mine and seemed to be working. Went out after 5 minutes and the Heated seat lights were on max (3). Still the cabin was cool but realized the air ducts were shut off. Going to use a thermometer and see how warm it gets before the 10 min shutoff.

I get the seats and rear defrost through the remote start app but can’t get the front defrost.

I have exactly the same issue. Not much point in a remote start if I can't warm up the cabin!

I've had no issues with heating the seats or getting things warmed up enough, have been remote starting for a few weeks. I have the front and rear synced and it's always warm at the 10 minute mark. Maybe the app isn't saving your settings correctly?

Interesting - the only thing I have under climate is a custom temperature. I wish I could turn on/off the other settings in the app.

What I do is set the controls (heated seats, etc) before turning off the car. When I remote start it via the app all of those settings are preserved.

I just tested this on my LC base trim, the seat heaters were off before sending the remote start, and they turned on to high when i remote started it.

When you look at the climate settings in the app after you update them, does it still show the custom climate setting and seat heaters enabled?

I also have the LC trim and don't see any of that in my remote app under climate - just the custom temperature. Is there another set of keystrokes I need to follow?

Hmm... I am on android, perhaps that is the difference.

How i got to that screen:
1) open toyota app
2) from the initial screen with the car at the bottom high-lighted and the remote tab active
3) swipe up to get the screen with light, hazards, climate, buzzer, etc
4) click climate
5) enable custom climate settings
6) all those options appear
7) click save at the bottom so the changes persist

Ah Toyota and your app. I'm also on Android and those options don't show up for me. I guess it's time for a call to Toyota's engagement center.

So I’ve been playing around with my 58. Every time I turn the heated seats on, save settings, leave the app and then go back into the app. The seats are off again.

So then I tried turning the seats on turning the vehicle off, then going into the app, turning the seats on saving the settings and then remote starting and watched through the side window. The seats came on for a second and then turned off immediately.
So I’m not sure what’s up with it and I’m wondering if this is something with the 58 trim which it sounds like.

Did you get any help from Toyota for this issue. I have the same problem, I have an android phone and my wife has an iPhone (both about 3 years old). We both only see the Temp control. No defrost or seat controls. Removed and reloaded the app with no changes. Really disappointing that the app shows up differently for certain people or versions of phones.

I'm really curious to see how if anyone gets any help from Toyota and what they say. I have an iPhone 11 Pro and it works fine, I see all the options and it works without issue.

I made the newer posting on this issue. I received nothing from Toyota on a potential solution. Other than, “you’re correct, you should have those options. “

Okay I’m having this issue too & I’m not sure if it’s user error of if my vehicle just won’t warm up unless I’m in it.

Regardless of whether I use remote start or go start it myself & come back inside. I put my heat to hi, turn on defrosters, seat heaters & steering wheel heater.
Even if I let it sit for 20 minutes I come out & it’s still cold. It will be running, & everything will show that it’s on but vents aren’t blowing & warmers aren’t warming until I drive off then it starts to work.
Is this just something hybrids do, or…?

My Samsung pushed an update the other day. low and behold I have climate controls with my remote start app now. But now the temps are warm enough that I don't need them to set the defrost options.

Mine did NOT work with the remote start but every day I would test once or twice until about the 10th or 12th time and then suddenly they started heating up. I thought maybe there was an OTA update that had gone out in that time span.
