Why?
For the love of all that is good, why can't I permanently turn off the RSA feature?

I have to go into settings EVERY time I get in the car to turn RSA off so my LC do not bleep, beep or ping at me when I go 1 mile over the roadsign speeds!!

Does anyone have a solution for this, please?
Or have I just not bothered to read the complete instruction manual?

I don’t know the solution, it had to be in the settings somewhere… notifications or something, but mine displays the speed and yields and crosswalks and whatnot but it doesn’t beep at me at all, or flash or anything, it just turns red when I’m speeding.

Are you in the UK? Maybe it's a fixed setting in cars sold there now. Here, in the US, the Ineos Grenadier does the same thing. It's the only car in the US that does this, as far as I know.

I am in the UK and it would be a total drag if this was the case, time to go and talk to Toyota...

I am in Canada and no beeping here if we go over the speed limit. We can even adjust how much over the speed limit (either 5 or 10 KM/H) before the roadsign display turn red.

Just turn off the sound......

This is my experience as well; I've never made any changes to RSA and it's never beeped and yelled at me.

This was my first thought as well….the US version definitely doesn’t do this, at least not by default

Wait, really? I don’t think I’ve noticed that.

The one reason I’d love to add a bit of cushion there is because I find the red speed limit indicator difficult to read when it’s sunny out…possibly due to polarized sunglasses, or my astigmatism (which the sunglasses do have a prescription for, but still)? Not sure, but it kind of annoying when I just want to check what the posted speed limit is and all I can see is a red blob.

I prefer how they did it on my 2019 RAV4, which just put a red outline around the speed limit sign if I was traveling faster

In the UK and Europe it resets everytime you start the car this is EU law so you get FTCA RSA etc etc binging away. I will fix it even if it means taking the dash pak out and disconnecting the buzzer!

Thats the next job..

Welcome to the asylum Mr Fish.

Is it really that much of a bother? Mine doesn't beep etc., but seeing it in my HUD is a good reminder not to exceed 10 over the posted limit.

I have noticed that sometimes RSA works great in Miss Daisy.. but sometimes it does NOT work worth a damn..

Oh my gosh I just wrote in another thread about how these trucks have a mind of their own and turn things on and off randomly. But this is one I've not even heard of....beeping when you exceed the speed limit? Yes that would have to go. Fingers crossed mine stays silent with this.

That's because it's a UK thing. If you spend enough time in the 600+ page manuals you can get everything configured so it mostly doesn't chirp at you the way all the lame YouTubers show and bitch about, but it takes awhile. I wish Toyota would define all the 3-letter acronyms on the dash display itself, it's annoying to try and remember 20 different acronyms (esp. the obscure ones), let alone what they actually do.

I complied this awhile ago, it may be of use to you.

I actually found this setting the other day while hunting for the one I read about on this thread to not have the speed limit sign turn red until you're 5 mph+ over...

There's definitely an option to have an audible alarm when that triggers... I'm just glad on the US version it doesn't default to that.

I think a lot of folks are missing the fact that OP isn't asking how to turn it off, but why their setting is reverting back each time they start the vehicle... which seems to UK model specific

I didn't know that. Will have to go back into settings - was just wondering yesterday if this was possible(or turning off the red indicator altogether).
