Need a recommendation for a dog crate for a 60lb lab. Preferably something collapsible or easy to store and not permanently installed

You should take a look at Impact Dog Crates. Not inexpensive by any means, but a very high quality product. We purchased a standard crate (not collapsible) from them for our daughter’s dog and it has held up extremely well and is in great shape after nearly five (5) years.

The following is a link to one of their collapsible crates:

Thanks. Been looking at those. Thule has a new line out as well.

How big is your dog, and what size crate did you get?

I think that we purchased the 30” Stationary crate in white. Our daughter’s dog is a female Cockapoo and weighs approximately 16lbs. The crate has more than enough room for her, but isn’t cavernous.

Okay, thanks

This would probably work:

Easy to store, takes up very little space.

LOL.

Had to do it.

I continuously use a wire crate by Midwestern. Generally the largest one that will fit in the vehicle. It's inexpensive, collapsible, and you can just take a carabiner and attach it to many different points of the vehicle to secure it so it doesn't slide around.

It's also extremely easy to clean because the pan can just slide out if a dog gets car sick or has an accident in the vehicle.

It's also the easiest to modify. You can put a blanket over any side you want to prevent sight lines/ reactivity, and it has the best ventilation of all crates. So if it's hot the dog will stay cool and if it's cool the dog will stay warm from the car, heating and Air conditioning.

Just as important, it allows me to see the dog through the rear of your mirror to see exactly what's going on.

One last final point is that I put a liner underneath the entire rear cargo area that can unfold so a dog doesn't scratch the bumper when they're getting in and out and so it catches any type of debris, liquid/solids from my dog if they have an accident or are filthy from playing. Etc
