Put the two medium duty Yaks on yesterday. Low , medium and high speed testing was a huge success.
No wind noise, no howling at any speed, sky light open or closed.
Very very happy with these.
Not planning on anything like houses tents, bath room up top. Surf pole carrier, traction board mounts, Rotopax storage base are going to be phase 2. I will most likely need to add a third to have the spacing for both type mounting plates i want to use, TBD.
The factory cross bars howled no matter what i did. The bent sheet metal stuff looks like shit and is very unimpressive.
The Yaks look great and more importantly work supremely well.
Lots of experience with Yakima, should have started there. They make much more heavy duty sets and flat arrangements if that is what you want.
5 stars for these.

The other advantage with this setup is that those crossbars have T-slots. The universal mounts that come with the Yakima FatCat (for example) raise about 2.5”. The fancy rubber strap-mount quick release clamps raise about 2”. With T-slot mounts you can reduce that to a little less than an inch.

It all adds up and my LC is veeery close in a couple ski garages with the skis on.

This is great thank you. Are these the jetstreams?

Is there a specific model from Yakima for our LC oem rails?

they just sit soooo high....

they just sit soooo high....
That's my gripe, too. OEM and these site way high. Would love to find a way to mount the cross bars such that they are are a similar height as the rails which I like and find to be useful (hand grab, tie down point, etc). Our 06 highlander has OEM cross bars that sit within the rails at the same height. Those cross bars are a touch too low, but would love to see something similar on the LC. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
