Maybe a 250?
It seems I am starting to close in on a Landcruiser, YAY! Now is that pre-purchase buyers remorse and setting up phase! And so, I defer to you knowledgable ones for help!

I know I want to get the premium package, but is there anything on the build sheet you have that you absolutely are stoked about or anything you wish you would have selected? I am trying to keep things like bumper decals and cargo nets to purchases at the parts department so they aren't financed, but how about the Port options? And for that matter what have you gotten at the parts department that you really like? So far my list is:

SDM - I love wheeling, but really I doubt I'll be doing hardcore stuff with a 60k truck. I had an FJ at one point and had all the aspirations on taking it out but rarely did. BUT I also want to protect resale and I think this will help down the road along with helping me down the road when I DO get it off-road.

Door Modling - Door dings piss me off. Also looking at sliders / steps for this reason. Probably not the OEM but I admit to not knowing much about those.

Door Sill illumination - I like lights. What can I say?

Liftgate Light - See above. Also practical, as a bonus.

DashCam - I was in an accident last year. A Cam might have saved the day and changed what the report said in the end. Super frustrating. So I hate the eye on all the time but if I ever get accused of being at fault when I had no way to mitigate again I'll poke my eye out with a pen.

Roof Rack - I have another post up about this debate. Ugh.

Check out fitcamx for the dashcam. It's cheaper than the Toyota option and way better looking.

I’m a little hesitant to do the install and making it clean. I really don’t want mounts or added wires. Does the unit you’re referring to go into the factory mounts / wiring?

SDM is worth it if you do any long bumpy forest road drives, it really softens up the experience. I just wish it would stay disconnected above 19mph... even just up to ~25mph would have been perfect.

I'm glad I have it, even though I don't expect to ever need it for the added flex.

Great info. Thanks. I think I’m going to do it if I can. Even if I don’t use it often (which I hope I will), it’ll be good to have it. When you’re spending this much just get what you want right?

I agree completely. Used to have a 2014 Tundra and it was the same conversations on those forums too.
For sure. I had the last year Tundra before the new one came out and I loved it but fuel mileage was never its forte, and nor did I expect it to be!

Avoid the Toyota dash cam. It was designed for a sloped windshield, not an upright one like the Land Cruiser. Dongar makes adapters that will let you power after market dashcams off the cable for the built in one or the cable for the mirror.

SDM and the extra rear lights appear to be factory (as opposed to port) options, you might have to search a lot and/or wait a while for those. I’d advise waiting for what you want into settling though.

There seems to be a real supply chain issue with the SDM component... to the point where it was delaying delivery of some Tacoma trims that are supposed to have it, and as of recently has gone from "standard" to "optional" on LC trims.

There was a whole thread on this that was active the past few weeks, but it sounds like the move was made because dealers couldn't get any J250s other than 1958 because of issues with the supply of the SDM components, so Toyota is now shipping the standard LC trim without it.

In other words, if you want SDM, I hope you get it...but I'm not sure if that will require having to wait longer or not.

Bummer. I read a bit of that post. Not sure I want to wait for it. I will definitely inquire with the dealer, thanks!

If you want mpg over offroad ability skip the nitto package. Im happy with this package but i need a decent all terrain more than mpg. I would get the paint protection film. It is more expensive to get this after purchase and you need ppf on the hood at least asap. See if you can get the windshield warranty. I paid a discounted 500 for windshield repair and replacements. The windshield is expensive to replace and is a rock/bug magnet.
Sdm is good for off pavement with one caveat. It turns off at ~19mph which sucks on corrugated fire roads. For slow technical stuff (and probably resale) it's great.

If you can find one with just the premium package, it’s your best bet. That way you can add on as you want, more economically.

Mine doesn’t have the SDM as a ‘25, but I’m doubting I’d use it. Hoping it becomes a dealer option at some point, as it means parts will be available for it.

I wasn’t a fan of a lot of the options coming from the port, - roof rack etc. Just made the LC more expensive and with options I didn’t want or like. Mine came with just the 20” wheels, premium package and the bumper protector.

Photo of OEM body molding on Wind Chill Pearl. DIY in 30 minutes. I also added OEM crossbars, window visors and hood protector.
Liftgate Lights were a part of Premium package, but I had do buy and install illuminated door sills and retractible cargo cover.

same, I was kind of pissed at first they dropped it from standard options but I was more interested in underground on java with the premium package.

Premium package is great and worth the money imo, JBL is nice adaptive cruise control and the "auto pilot" adaptive cruise control is as good as the tesla system. The non full self driving tesla system.

Assuming you are getting one from a dealer, get them to throw in a rear cargo cover as part of the deal. It seems it doesn't come with one but it is nice to have. Part #64009-60010-C0. They run about $200 if you buy it later. It is better quality than the Amazon ones and it comes with the Toyota filler caps.

"Liftgate Lights were a part of Premium package"-my bad, Toyota charged me 195.00 for the lights, I checked the window sticker:cautious:

I'd recommend trying to avoid two things on your car... First, the 20-inch wheels -- if you're going "off road", you're way better off with 18's (which will have higher sidewalls). And second, avoid the liftgate lights -- I was charged $190 for them (a factory installed option), but there is no on/off switch -- so as long as your liftgate is open, the lights are on, and they will drain the small 12-Volt battery quickly. I had to open the liftgate interior panel to install a manual switch for the light...

"I had to open the liftgate interior panel to install a manual switch for the light..." Good observation! How difficult it was to open the panel and install the switch?
