Auto off engine function

It does not. It’s a hybrid and essential to the operation.
Thanks for the heads up - nothing like a good lag at the stoplight. 👍🏼

On our ‘20 Honda Pilot, Honda issued a recall as the auto start/stop was malfunctioning where you’d have to put the car in park, kill the engine, restart and put in back in gear. Happened to me twice and was almost rear ended. Eco tech FTW -

Being a hybrid, it works differently. A traditional starter is not used. The electric motor starts the ICE and both work conjunction when you take off from a stop.

If you would search the forum, you will find a better explanation that’s already been posted.

Appreciate it, glad it’s more efficient!

I have been driving in tow mode in an attempt to avoid the jerking/ hesitation that occasionally happens when slowing down (seemingly when switching to hybrid mode), and the problem has resolved PLUS the engine never turns off. Tach runs a bit higher before shifting and while cruising but MPG have remained the same. This is a huge improvement in drivability to me, but are there any long term consequences of using tow mode all the time? I was thinking about selling it before I figured this out.
