Not sure if I am doing something wrong, but with my 2025 1958 model I cannot get the handsfree texting/dictation feature to work.
If my iPhone is plugged into the car and I get a text it shows up on the screen but when I click reply the radio doesn't shut down or lower the volume.
When I try to speak to it nothing happens.
I have the same issue if I try to dictate a text while driving.

Anybody else have this issue?

The volume on the radio will not go down since in the new land cruisers the Siri voice goes through the assistant feature, and the voice will only come out near the driver.
It’s probably working but just quiet - you will probably have to turn the voice up for assistant on the infotainment.
I just got a new LC Friday and I had to do that to be able to hear it properly.

Raise the volume when Siri is (supposedly) talking back to you.

Just use volume knob to turn off the audio when using Siri, don't think there are any options. Very bad design choice not to lower volume while using voice.

I been trying to figure this out too. That is a horrible design.
The saddest part of this design is they’ve been using it since at least 2020 and it hasn’t changed or been fixed or improved. So much for Toyota listening to their customers.

Once the warranty is over, I plan to swap out the 8 inch for a 12 inch screen. Hopefully by then they will have more options from better brands. Fingers crossed that will resolve this shitty issue lol.

It’s a terrific vehicle overall but this is a very annoying nit.

I can’t think of a single reason why anyone would not want the audio volume to mute when the phone has a notification.
