I am exploring my options for a new vehicle. On my short list is a 24 LC LC Premium, 24 RX350 and a 22 X5. It will mostly be a parking lot princess with a few annual excursions to the Sierra in the winter (snow).

Anyone on the forum with two forward facing car seats in the second row?
  1. How is the leg room in the front row? I'm 5' 11" - the room in my Model Y is decent.
  2. Is there adequate space for the kids not to constantly kick the back of the driver / passenger seats?
  3. Can an adult fit in the middle seat between the two car seats?
  4. Anything else you'd like to share?

In the last few years I've gone from a BMW X5 to a Yukon XL to a BMW X7 and now a LC First Edition. There is plenty of room in the front seats for 6' plus, but the second row does not have lots of leg room. An adult can fit in the middle between two car seats, but there is not much room to avoid the possibility that a child can kick the front seats unless the front seats are pretty far forward. While I wish there was a little more room, and while I do have some complaints about it (such as intrusive nannies that need to be disabled and the need to go through a menu to reset the trip meter at a gas stop), I love the vehicle. It's not perfect and no sub $100k vehicle is, but I think it's fantastic and don't miss any of my other recent family haulers. I don't intend to sell it. I'm in WC so if you are near and want to check it out let me know.

3 & 6 year old kids. They fit fine, plenty of room. No issue with passenger/driver seat room (i'm 6'1). Kids definitely get their feet all over the seat in front of them, but that's by choice, they have plenty of room to not kick the seat.

Middle would be pretty squished for an adult but I haven't tried. The hump is also quite large which wouldn't help. These diono seats I have are particularly skinny too, so modern giant plush seats will take up even more space.

Thanks for the info! I am also in WC and I might have to take you up on your offer to check it out in person. It's so hard to find a used or demo unit locally to test out two car seats. I'll ping you once I've narrowed it down somemore between the models I have in mind. Is there anything you miss about your X5?

Thank you! This is very helpful. one of our cars seats is a diono and the other is a "plush" Nuna. Without the cupholders, the room in the middle seems decent for an adult for a short drive.
