So I didn’t like how high the OEM crossbars sat and wanted some more flexibility with placement/ spacing front to rear, so I ended up making my own. I used 1050 aluminum extrusion and riv nuts to bolt into the OEM roof rails, it’s almost the exact thickness of the roof rails. I then used 1020 aluminum extrusion as the cross bars with heavy duty corner brackets. No additional wind noise and it holds strong. Not designed for an RTT but bikes and boards are perfect. And it’s so low profile. I then 3D printed end caps for the vertical extrusions to finish them off.
