2016 4Runner TRD Pro
Hey, folks. Currently driving a 2016 4Runner TRD Pro. Love it. Love vintage LC's, and strongly considering a '25 Land Cruiser. Happy to see such an active and knowledgeable community here.

There are a lot of posts on this topic sprinkled all over this forum. I had a 2014 runner since new before the LC 1958. Do I miss it? Not really. This is a direct upgrade of the 5th gen runner yet still kind of the same car.

The biggest thing that this improves on your 4runner is long distance driving. It's not even close. Oh and the tight turn radius is really nice.

Imagine things you wanted your runner to be or have. Well you pretty much get that here. More power. More torque. Smoother. Better night visibility, great headlights. Quick relative to the dogging 4runner. You don't get the roll down tailgate window or sunglass holder but those eventually become afterthoughts.

I chose the 1958 because it resembled the 5th gen runner more and got custom leather upgrades that looks better than the OEM leather. The canvas cloth on the 1958 is really nice though. If you go 1958, drive it with the cloth seats for a bit to see if you really want the leather.

even at the 1958 level you get features the 4runner never had.

The mid grade LCLC and premium have things some folks like better. I personally would prefer the upgraded sound system and leather but those I could get myself later. The rest I actually didn't want and would've paid more not to get. You can't go wrong with any of the LC trims.

One more thing is the nanny stuff. You can turn most of it off. The rest is no getting away with getting a new car in this age. Even the ineos grenedier nags at you over bs, and hey, you may end up appreciating some of it.
