I ended up with my LC in the driveway last night. I’ve read a few things on the forum that really helped, and a few that guided my option plans for the car. I wanted to follow up on a few in case there are others in the same situation.
SDM: I had really been given the impression from researching here, and from the Build section of the Toyota website that the SDM was purely an option at this point. Kelly Blue Book shows it being something like a 1250 add on as of January this year. I had decided I wanted to go with the SDM but through a misunderstanding was never able to ‘option’ it in. Low and behold when I showed up to get the LC it had it installed. So did the other Premium at the dealer. Neither had the SDM listed on the options side of the window sticker. It was in the normal equipment. So I guess just make sure with your dealer if that’s something that is a priority for you. Maybe it’s included in the Premium Package still?
Dashcam: Toyota must be reading the feedback here and elsewhere. I had decided not to go with the dashcam after originally wanting one. I didn’t get that changed unfortunately because of the same misunderstanding. I was actually pretty much ready to pass on the vehicle and wait for one setup the way I wanted based on what I had read here but because I hadn’t seen one in person I wanted to go look at it. It appears that Toyota is now installing the dashcam on the passenger side. It didn’t bother my wife when she was riding shotgun one bit. It was not intrusive to me as the driver much at all. It became a non issue for me.
Just got the car last night and haven't really had a chance to get into the thing and explore much yet but I’m really excited to get back into a Landcruiser. I mentioned in my introduction post a few weeks ago that in College my first car was a 1971 FJ40 that I adored and wish I still had. As a nod to returning to my beginnings in my love for Landcruisers I’ve decided to name this one Roots! Let the adventures begin.
