At 600 miles my Land cruiser dropped out of gear and the dash light up like a Christmas Tree. I coasted to the shoulder and turned the vehicle off. When I turned it back on, I got the “Hybrid Drive Error” message. I dropped it off at the dealer October 24, 2024. As of December 1, 2024 it is still there. Toyota is waiting for the following parts:
Hybrid Module Assembly
Transmission Assembly
Torque Converter Assembly
I have asked to speak with an engineer that could explain why it failed and why a replacement unit of the same design would not have the same potential for failure. Is this a manufacturing defect that has been corrected? Has anyone heard an explanation of why this unit is failing. It looks like I am not the only one to have this problem.
I have wanted a Landcruiser for as long as I can remember. Not a happy camper.
