Disclosure: this is my first real 4x4 vehicle and have minimal off-roading experience.

With that said, I was impressed with the vehicle off-road. It was so easy to drive and maneuver out on the trails. The electronic steering is effortless and makes the car feel so light. The capability exceeded my expectations being on stock suspension and limiting ground clearance. Only slightly scraped the exhaust coming down a fairly steep bolder. It handled inclines and crawled over boulders/rocks with ease in 4lo. Successfully crossed rivers at 2-3ft deep. OnX rated the Monache Jeep 4x4 trail a 3/10 but it sure felt like an 8 in some sections, just need a good line and a good spotter (no trail monitor).

Can’t wait for the next overland trip. Any suggestions for destinations in the California area with similar degree of difficulty to the Monache Jeep Trail?

Monache Meadows now that’s a Beautiful blast from the past stalled my new 74 fj-40 in the kern river but it started again. Sucked up water thru the tail pipe blowing white smoke out ending up with a hi-performance 327 , and the adventures just started. Such a wonderful area. 74 was the first year with the factory 4spd . Next Landcruiser 79 with 2-f engine that 2-f engine is still running strong with a sm420 7 to 1 transmission and a Orion 4 to 1 transfer case and 488 rear end super great crawler.

Hey dude, i'm the guy thats been pestering you on IG with questions lol. Check out Mendocino County in NorCal if you're in for a trek.
Yes, we definitely love adventuring in central and north cali and will eventually make our way up there. So many beautiful areas.

Chimney peak ranger station can line you up with open trails in that area. They are after 9 mile Canyon. I believe Sherman Jeep trail and it will bring you in to lake Isabell very nice area. Used to be a fun trail.

Definitely want to explore more of that area since it is a close-ish drive from OC. We found a nice meadow called Osa Meadows while exploring. Great camp site and usually no one there.
