Thanks for the feedback. I'll see what we can do about it. FYI Land Cruiser is actually one of the best vehicles to use continuous power mode because (unlike my gas-only '24 Taco) the huge 288V traction battery starts the drivetrain up and tops the 12V battery, so a 'low' 12V battery is way less...
@b00st3d, the kit includes both the 5-pin (oem dashcam connector under the map light) as well as the 10-pi (tapping to rearview mirror). The kit was designed to accomodate as many Toyota/Lexus as possible but only the newest trucks have the 5-pin connector preinstalled so far.
I would probably...
^oops I didn't mean 'dashcam' specifically, that was an example.
But yeah the fusebox is covered by a plastic panel with little clearance so tapping it is almost a non-starter unless you decide to not use the plastic panel. Here's the wiring diagram from Toyota for the USB ports. I would just...
To answer the questions about USB-C port output: USB-C allows an output of 5-20V, negotiated between the source (oem usb port) and sink (dashcam) using the chips built into USB ports as well as inside of the cables, something like this inside:
By default, per USB-C 'standards', a fully...
Hi LC forum!
Introducing our latest product... Dongar PRO! This novel USB adapter converts your rearview mirror (or plugs into the 5-pin OEM dashcam adapter in the domelight cavity) into a power source for your dashcam or USB device, all in under 5 minutes . Not only does this mean hiding...
@JustinHEMI sorry for the delayed reply... I didn't know we had an exclusive section until just now 😅 .
Our existing 10-pin Type B is a bit cheaper at $36 but it does not allow parking mode. The NEW Dongar PRO adapter allows parking mode is available on Amazon...
Updates!!
Our parking mode power adapter is now known as Dongar PRO. After 8+ design revisions we're ~1 mo from launch! First injection molding trials have commenced!
The first SKU Dongar PMA-01 is meant specifically for Toyota/Lexus and includes three different wiring harnesses. Compatible...
Any fans of Garmin?? They JUST released their new camera line! We have them in-stock... these are so fresh Amazon doesn't have em yet! Dashcams & Accessories
PMs replied to!
Check out Dongar PRO functionality here:
The adapter will have 3 modes:
IGN- In this mode, the device (usually a dashcam) connected to the Dongar’s USB-C power will receive power and turn on/off when the vehicle ignition is started
∞- The dashcam will remain continuously...
it's tough bc most radar is already 12V so don't really need a USB adapter. The stuff from MirrorTap will do what you need which are just simple terminal-to-rj11 cables instead of a USB port.
I personally use a Radenso unit with native USB-C which works perfectly with our adapters...
Hi LC Forum! We're a Northern California based startup focusing on making dashcam installation easier.. the Dongar adapters utilize the power already going to your rearview mirror or the OEM dashcam pigtail connector (in the domelight cavity) and give you a convenient USB port ready for your...
it's down here. Haven't tried it but if its like my 2024 Tacoma, its probably covered up by two plastic panels and zero clearance for a add-a-circuit fuse taps without cutting plastic or just not putting the plastic covers back on. The official solution from Toyota to add aftermarket stuff is...
@PixelMagic: I wouldn't do it... their Toyota compatible SKU plugs into the Toyota Safety Sense... It probably works OK but they don't currently offer an adapter that plugs into the purpose-built 5-pin connector in the roof at the moment. They opted to use the TSS computer plug because not all...
Ours is Type-C! You can use a type-C to RJ11 plug for full native 12V operation. Our adapter isn't ready for another 3 mo but we'll have some units for field testing soon.
Alternatively you can use a solution from MirrorTap: MirrorTap Power Cord
Their stuff is old school but it'll solve your...
We have a USB-C adapter coming out that has native 5V/9V/12V output. This solution from 21Offroad works, though you're technically stepping down 12V down to 5V back up to 12V with this setup. Works fine, just kind of silly in a way.
Our new adapter also has parking mode, but not ready to show...
