Looks like you kept 4LO on most/all the climb and if so the higher rpms in theory kept the temperatures more controlled.
At least this have been my experience.
The side look is the money shot for sure.
But isn't bad from the front. I had similar ideas (doing just the side section) a while ago but ended not doing anything yet.
Black are only for the FE, this are gray/charcoal ones.
tires are oem size 267/70/18 falkens at4w, looks bigger than stock but is about the same height, just a bit wider tread width.
I tried another time and still no past the 3rd gear, manually or automatically .
Not sure if this have anything to do with the full time vs part time, but the transmission behavior is certainly limited when the 4LO is engaged. like is only intended to climb and ultra low speeds, nothing else...
Last couple tanks I'm around 18.5-19.5 mpg. Always on premium gas.
Some trips I get 23mpg, other trips 16mpg, all depends if I'm going uphill/downhill, traffic/going fast and so on.
my commute is only 10 miles and 600-700 ft altitude difference with a lot of ups and downs in the middle, so it...
My case there's no minivans, just some old diesel trucks going up the forest road like crazy fast.
4LO was reasonable on my 4Runner because it wasn't limited on gears.
Do you remember which mode (eco/normal/sport) you used ?
Because I'm almost sure my case was on ECO (4HI).
Not sure if would...
Yes, I reported that on both threads and I absolutely think we are in the same boat here.
Everyday drive the temperatures are dead in the middle, no problems at all.
Slow speeds uphill on a gravel road and it went up. in my case I stopped before get to red.
I wouldn't mind drive on 4LO but the...
I need to do this route, but feels you have a good couple days driving
I only keep in the stampede pass area
Please report back your finding specially the LC performance!
Keep us posted.
That noise is getting more and more often.
Now even with the car "warm"
on my 5000 mile service I might bring this up if there's an actual solution
I wouldn’t worry about bend or break the Fumoto (or any other) valve there
The oil pan is protected by the crossmember and behind the axle
Tucked up pretty good
This and the (ideally aftermarket or FE) skid plate, you should be good
Unless you do some massive bending don’t there…
Then you have...
I tried disable the auto parking brake and made no difference
Which makes sense if the noise is coming from the front wheels
I never pinpoint where’s from.
There's a reason I got the meteor shower color. 😅
Worry a bit less about scratches and the inevitable swirls marks.
That said I hand wash it for now.
But late fall/winter/early spring is touchless car wash and (eventual) hand drying season.
I did a coat of beadmaker after the first wash and...
The heavier steering wheel is excellent.
Feels more engine braking too, probably due the up gear.
I use normal for a couple weeks, than eco for a while, than normal for a few days, than sport for a day or two...
Is like driving slightly different cars
My 2022 4Runner was totaled because I got rear ended and bent the frame, very minimal, but did.
The body shop requested a new frame and wouldn't do just a fix.
I was ok with the totaled because I ended nearly breaking even with the insurance payout plus I used a car for over a year "for free"...
is there a engine sound enhancement ?
I'm assuming the default is off right ?
LC is so quiet, hard to believe there's any other sound being pumped in...
Happens with me almost every morning I get that noise backing out of the garage.
Something that I noticed is the parking brakes is applied automatically when moving to P.
I very rarely used parking brakes on my previous cars.
Could be something related to that.
I'll turn off the automatic...
Since I got the Falken Wildpeak AT4w (OEM size) it went down from 22-23 to 19-20 at best.
1500 miles in.
But I've been driving more and more "spirited" as I get more comfortable with the driving dynamics... 😅
