Just got around to getting a steel 18” rim and LTX Defender tire for the spare. Does it matter which direction the spare is mounted underneath the rig?

This is almost exactly the same experience I had with 275/70/18 KO3’s that I added to my LC. Discount Tire thought they may be not balanced or even out of round… but were not confident they could fix it completely. I switched to Michelin LTX Defenders and am more than pleased.

Just completed my break-in oil change at just under 1500 miles. Plan on doing next change at 5k miles and every 5k afterwards. Sending in a sample— will report back!

Absolutely— glad to help! These TRD wheels are 45mm, which seems like a nice balance between factory and full aftermarket.

For some reason— I thought the tire size of the spare matching was significant due to the all time 4x4 (within a 1/8” or 1/4” of wear, etc.). I’m new to Land Cruisers, so please correct me if I am wrong!

I just took the TPM sensor out of my 20” spare to sell with my other 20” take-offs. Looking to replace my spare and trying to decide whether to order a matching 18” TRD wheel or just a tundra steelie. What are everyone’s thoughts on 5 tire rotations as stated in the owner manual vs regular 4...

Love the Defenders— they ride very quiet and smooth. I went with 275/70/18 E rated for the added strength of 10 ply, didn’t notice a decline in mpg or ride quality over the factory 20” wheels. Looks are just ok, not as cool as an AT tire.

You mentioned also a Jeep/Ram dealership, and I immediately thought of Stone’s Toyota. I had a much better experience with Teton Toyota in IF (although this was 5 years ago). Love that part of Idaho, still miss the summer nights!

Both the Toyota heritage and TRD style caps that fit the 18” will fit on 20” wheels. I swapped my 20” OEM caps onto a set of 18” TRD wheels, the sizes are the same.

What has been people’s experience with Michelin Defender LTX M/S2? I mostly am highway commuting with some snow during winter and gravel/dirt roads on the weekends. Does anyone have pictures of them on their Land Cruiser (preferably in a bigger size, like 275/70/18)?
