No data yet. Wheels are brand new. Currently trying to decipher what pressure to run in my tires. My best estimate is 39 psi. Here's how I figured it out:
1. Current Load Index is 112. According to Falken, an Index of 112 at 33 psi is a load of 2469 lbs. Evidently metric tires include a...
I’m keeping the 20” wheels and I’ll switch back and forth between the two sets depending on whether I’m going off-road and/or the time of year. I like both sets of wheels. Of course, I’ll like the 20” wheels better with a different set of tires on them. C’mon Toyota, are you kidding me?
Lol. Denied by physics. A HUD works because of the partial reflection of light on the windshield. The intensity of the image is reduced because polarized sunglasses cut down on the amount of reflected light transmitted to our eyes. That's the whole point of polarized sunglasses...to cut down...
I also liked the Method 708 HD (18", +40), but it's 36 lbs and 18". That's a weight penalty of 10 lbs/wheel compared to the 703. The regular 708 is just 1.5 lbs more, but the offset is either 0 or +12, which aren't a good fit for what I want.
I'm working on putting some new off-road ready boots on my Heritage Blue LC that currently has the 20" wheels. I decided to go with the Method 703 (17 x 8.5, +35, Gloss Titanium) along with 255/80R17 (true 33") Falken WildPeak AT4W tires. While the rims arrived today, I'm still waiting on TPMS...
You may realize this, but a 5 mm difference is a difference of 0.2" on the same width wheel (not 1.57").
In order to compare poke you need both the width and offset of the wheel. Two wheels of different width can have different offsets, but the same poke. For example, an 8" wheel with an...
The wheel on the 1958 is a 7" width and +50 offset on an 18" rim. The 708 HD is a good look and will look really nice on the LC. The calculation for the comparison of the 1958 wheel to the 708 is...
(9"-7")/2 *25.4 + (50-40) = 35.4 mm extra poke
That's actually a little bit less than the...
Here's a pic of someone's LC (not mine) with the Nomads and 255/80R17 E load Wildpeak AT4W tires. Looks just about perfect. The pizza cutter Wildpeaks weigh in at just 58.1 lbs compared to the 285/70R17 C load that come in at 65.4 lbs. Both are 33" diameter tires.
BFG is scheduled to release C load versions in 2025 in a lot of sizes, but not the 265/70/18. They'll release a D load in that size in 2026.
Here's a link to the KO3 Release Dates
I have the Method 703s coming in a few days with a +35 offset. The thing most people seem to be missing is that you also need to consider the width of the rim when figuring out the actual location of the tire relative to the suspension geometry. The 703 is 8.5" wide with +35 but the stock rim...
I think the 285/75R17 will fit under static loads, but may deform enough during dynamic loading to rub a little bit. So, if I go with the larger diameter, I'll be looking at doing a proper suspension upgrade with just enough lift to give me a comfortable clearance. Radflo already has something...
The pic below shows calculations to determine how the offset and rim width change the overall position of the wheel relative to the suspension (for a 285/70R17 +35 on 8.5" width rim). The additional poke is 37.7 mm (or 1.48") when compared to the stock 20" wheel. So, the new tire will still be...
Not as wide as you think. The rims are 25 cm wider, so they’ll only push out about 1.5” wider than the stock tires. With the wider tire, I’ll need the extra offset to clear the inside of the fender and steering components. I think +35 or + 40 are just about perfect for 285s. I’ll post pics...
I'm going to put Falken WIldPeak AT4W in 285/70R17 C or 285/75R17 C on Method 703 (+35). The wheels come in soon, so I'll just have decide on the tire size. I was initially leaning towards the 75s, but now think I'll probably go for the 70s to ensure they fit and don't rub. Decisions, decisions.
