I’ve never bought a new Toyota so I have no familiarity with that dealer. But I t’s big red flag for me as far as potentially doing any business with them in the future.
I contacted a local dealer a month ago and asked to be put on their wait-list. They gave me no idea as to how many were already on the list but I assumed I was way down. I preferenced a mid-level Land Cruiser in Heritage Blue with gray top, and left it at that. I assumed I wouldn’t hear from...
That’s pretty cool to have a dealer do this—especially the partial credit aspect. There are going to be a lot of LC take-offs that will be worth exactly $0 on the resale market.
Congrats in advance! I’m curious as to your plans for the new LC:
Are you going to treat it like an ordinary vehicle and drive it until it wears out, or you trade it for something new in a few years?
Or
Are you going to tuck it away in a climate-controlled garage and in 30 years your kids...
Does the GX550 require premium gas or just recommend it? As I’ve come to understand it there’s a big difference. My wife was recently shopping for a new car and this became a determining factor. Certain auto manufacturers (Audi as an example) make it clear that using less than 91 octane can be...
I may be wrong but the GX’s additional length must come from the elongated front end cap because they share the same wheelbase. The comparison photo isn’t exactly to scale but you can really see that there’s definitely a much more bulbous nose on the GX.
Yep, opinions are subjective. At first didn’t care for the entire front end on the LC. Then I warmed to it and I liked the round headlights. Now I prefer the rectangular headlights. But one thing that has not changed is my strong dislike of the Lexus front end. Hard no for me.
Agreed that perhaps a slight increase in negative offset and/or at least a true 33” AT tire would give a moderately more aggressive stance. I don’t particularly like the wheels on the LC and the tires are laughable.
I much prefer the wheels they’re putting on Lexus 550 Overtrail.
I don’t...
My 1996 Land Cruiser 80 had a curb weight of 4751 lbs off the lot, with 212 hp/275 lb-ft of torque. Even if the LC 250 is 1000 lbs heavier, I think the 326hp/465 lb-ft is going to make for a bit of an improvement. My bar is low 😆
$5800??!! That’s RIDICULOUS.
One of the dealers I spoke with said they generally have a dealer protection plan on many of their vehicles, but they did not tell me what that would be on the new LC because they don’t have allocation/pricing yet. It was very vague (intentionally I assume). We’ll...
I finally got some of info from two large dealers in the greater Seattle (but thankfully NOT Seattle) area.
One dealer (Toyota of Kirkland) tells me they have not received any allocation info yet and they expect the see some new LC’s arriving around May. No info provided on how many people are...
Knowing it’s in the best of hands at Torfab makes the pill a little easier to swallow. And a good portion of the work I approved was not necessary at this time—I elected to take care of everything now so I don’ t have to go back once a year. Coercing my wife into driving 50 miles to run my...
The world is a small place as my 80 series is currently at Torfab spending more of my money than is rational ;) Your brother and I should compare invoices!
And he cannot let that (40th) Anniversary go. He’s raised it since it was little and it needs to remain with him.
In our house there has been some disagreement over the matter of Land Cruisers. I have a 1996 80 series that my wife insists must go if I get the new LC 250. She has said, “You can’t have two Land Cruisers!”. I have maintained all along that that is just crazy talk.
This morning she came...
I reached out to another dealer and heard back within minutes. Not sure if the email was an automated chat bot or a real sales assistant that was monitoring email late in the evening, but it was a reply!
At least your dealer returns emails! I have sent a local dealer 3 different emails in the last month, to the top 3 sales personnel, inquiring about allocations and waiting lists. None will return my email. They’re going to force me to pick up the phone and call 😆
