The 7" takeoff from the 1958 are available. But the stock 7.5" are perhaps the ideal width. That can go to wide-ish tires if desirable. I think the 275 are a good size for people who want a little wider. But the 11" + widths are going to spray mud down the side without a wider mud flap.
I don't...
I agree that 17" is a less conservative choices. I doubt a 1/2" more tire compared to the 18" makes a real world difference, but that smaller rim does increase the chance a stone getting caught in the wheel.
But along that line of thinking does bead grip matter if not airing down as low as...
If I'm going to buy 18" rims, I may as well consider the 17" method bead lock.
What tires work with 17? I'm not looking to go more than 275.
Anyone buy 18" Method?
Also, I believed that the AT4 has a strengthened sidewall compared to the AT3. I would not buy AT3 today unless Falken exprility states that they intend to continue production, as future tire replacement could become an issue.
I may very well buy the AT4, but I feel the 4x4 forums biased...
A half inch makes a difference? Is fitting the new tire in the spare space under the vehicle one of you criteria?
If I lived within 500 miles of Moab I would probably own a Bronco and run 35s. Especially now that high end Bronco prices have collapsed.
Its fine to put E on are trucks. My point is that the tire engineers designed AT tires for our trucks and they aint the E tires.
Did you check if the AT3 come in your size? I would bet that most of the people complaining about KO3 being stiff are running E. Maybe KO3 come in SL
Jeff backs me up on tire stiffness in the first minute. Plus recognizing Underground as the best color :). So soon I will switch to ranting about fairly narrow 33s are the right size for almost all overlanding. Wide and tall for looks, of course.
Maybe it is. I'm trying to figure out if the phone app can unlock and start the car without cell service. The primary Tesla key is simply the phone using bluetooth. Backup being NFC cards and the app over cellular.
With the LC I've seen the key fob struggle to connect to my locked car. I'm...
Well, its all a tradeoff. The avoidable tradeoff that's been calcified by the interwebs is that medium size trucks running E rated tires is a good idea for most buyers. Putting the E rated AT4 on the LC makes no sense when the Falkan engineers deliberately design their SL version for our weight...
Mostly reading through Rav4Club on reddit and looking at github where people hack their own cars. But I'm still keeping my FOB in a faraday pouch when traveling. But I am fairly convinced that the key cloning attack won't work on our vehicle.
I would be willing to pay $1200 to install IGLA but...
One missing vehicle with no information on how it was stolen.
For now I've settled for this ridiculous thing, but only while staying at roadside motels:
https://disklokusa.com/
Yes, by weight the E rated Ascent roughly corresponds to the SL rated AT4.
The Ineos is certainly running E rated on that 6000lb vehicle. To get a similar ride on our LC will likely require SL/XL tires.
So broadly we now have true AT tire for our vehicle at 40, 50, and 55+ weight "classes"...
The message makes sense considering how many Toyotas in the last few years have been stolen by a hack that creates a new non-physical key. But ours is one of the new higher end Toyotas that is suppose to prevent this type of theft. I would expect this message only if a new phone or key fob...

2024 INEOS Grenadier, 6,500mi driven on tires
SO MUCH BETTER THAN BFG KO2
My Grenadier Trialmaster came with BFG KO2 from the factory, which rode like they were made from solid wood. They were hard, unforgiving things and didn't handle in the wet to...
Tone is your perception.
ACC mode has a 20 minute timer and then the vehicle switches to off. Providing more watt hours doesn't change the timer. There are literally over 100 warnings in the manual about only using 12V for short duration. The car is designed for long duration electrical usage...
First, It should be obvious that I have no interest in what you do personally. Second, to add a second battery to a system that isn't well understood in its charging behavior is the opposite of de-risking the potential of battery failure. You conflating my interest in good design with telling...
Even small van builds no longer use conventional second batteries. The LC is much less suitable for living inside than a small van. I can't imagine planning to sit in a front seat night after night listening to the stereo. So I don't understand your electrical plan. I would put the interior of...
All car companies ship a few terrible vehicles. There's good evidence that Toyota releases fewer dogs than average.
My attitude is that I'm going lemon law in year one if I get a bad vehicle. Even with Toyota.
My digital key works, but the vehicle warns me that a key has been added and to contact the dealer. There's an iOS widget for the key?
I like the digital key for a backup, but I'm assuming it will work without cellular. I want a backup for the key fobs, especially out of cellular coverage.
I absolutely have the vehicle jerk when the hybrid engages (or a downshift?) during light braking.
Still a great vehicle, but the hybrid is weird for the uninitiated and it rides like a truck. Not a vehicle to buy without a test drive and some thought. The Grand Highlander is a better choice...
The vehicle is on for high power use like a winch or more powerful air compressor.
The modern high power connector for electronics is USB-C, but the LC is only 15W and probably just 12V. The Bluetti and others are multi-voltage and high watt capable (either 65W or 100W).
The point of the...
@BigMF Seems like you are all set plugging the Bluetti into the 12v. I don't see a reason to maintain power to the Bluetti when the vehicle is off.
What I like about the Bluetti is that even the small ones have high output USB-C and recharge quickly on 120V. So beyond fridge use Bluetti do...
Wiring the vehicle like its not a hybrid with a generator, large inverter and a 1.8 kwh battery doesn't make a lot of sense. Leverage the expensive tech already purchased.
