If their rock rails use the four existing mounting points it might be an improvement over Westcott. Adding steps to he Toyota stock rock rail may also be a good choice.
I'm not having the frame drilled for a rock rail unless I get an explanation of why the mounting points Toyota made are inferior.
The Rubitreks are designed to meet a lower price point.
My concern with the AT4 is weight. Rubitreks are lighter, which may be good for some people.
AT4 and Toto ATIII is a large line that includes C rated tires at some sizes. Rubitrek has far fewer sizes and probably no C rated tires. I'm...
I think he's making the point that Methods +25 offset on LC wheels is unnecessary if one wants the wheels inside the fender as much as possible. Although 40mm to 25mm is only a 6/10 inch.
While we wait for an answer I'm guessing those are method 17" wheels maxed out with 285/75/17. A nice feature of 285/70/17 and 285/75/17 size is that there are different brands available with a six ply C rating. The 285/70/17 seems to fit in the under vehicle spare location.
That's good. There should be far more LC/4runner hybrids sold than Tacoma hybrids. The 6th gen 4Runner looks to have a segmented front bumper like outs.
Your personal comfort limit will expand. You will likely explore further and reach a situation where the choice is to backtrack 10 miles or continue forward into more challenging conditions.
Arguably the rear and center lockers are no longer necessary with the sophistication of the 4WD system...
My ignorance. I assumed the mirror camera was in the shark fin on top. I realize that's probably the Sirius antenna, but I thought I also saw backward facing plastic.
I just recently had to look for the side view cameras, so I haven't been paying too much attention.
By next year the 4Runner to LC to GX550 will be a continuum of the same base truck with overlap between models. Typically the higher one goes in price point the less intent there is to modify. All these vehicles come out of the same high quality Japanese factories and will have much the same...
I found a good four connector air down/up kit helps a lot with the "getting old" part. You may have that.
The only powerful 120V potable inflator I found had bad company reviews. The usual small Chinese business thing of not answering support emails. But eventually either we will find an...
The problem with a conventional cargo cover is height. Most people are going to go well above cargo cover height when traveling.
For cargo cover alternative I'm considering either a very dark tint in the rear windows or using the weathershield window covers dark side out while traveling and...
I think most of us are still waiting for a complete vendor solution.
The solution may be particularly difficult for vehicles with ultrasonics. I'm willing to lose the ultrasonics completely but not turn the system off every time the vehicle is driven.
The Falcons look great. My concern is about the weight. 15lbs heavier than the Toyos in the size I'm looking at. I want the C rating, which limits choices.
Someone pointed out in another thread that tire weight matters matters less with a hybrid, as the additional rotational ebergy is...
There's a setting on the camera screen for turning to see the curb. Try that.
I think there is some utility in it turning on to not curb the tires in tight areas. But it turn off too soon. Unless you are city driving I can see the on/off being annoying.
That's on disappointment in the trims. Everyone who buys the 1958 to build on wants the disconnected. But doesn't the mid trim have ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers?
My vote would be "Probably helps some, but the money might be better put towards detailing".
There's definitely a trend back towards more traditional waxing with modern products. Most people with $70K vehicles primarily have other do the exterior work. But these discussions are dominted by...
The throttle is poorly calibrated to stay off boost. It seems designed to make the truck seem faster than it is.
Good news on the highway mpg. "Mixed driving" likely means a wide variety of scenarios.
Nice. Jeff in the video I posted above mentioned he thought 6 ply was the sweet spot. Which wheels are you running? Have you found mud flaps to cover the wider tires?
For tire shoppers Falken has a similar size AT4 that is also C rated but weighs 10 pounds more.
Doug Demuro did a comparison. It's functionally the same base vehicle from what I remember. Different interiors, moved the controls around, but likely all the drive components are identical.
If the high end 4runner has a v6 option that may be preferable to some over the hybrid LC.
I found that Method does sell 18" for LC. It's just a matter of selecting All Wheels after setting the vehicle type to LC. Maybe not news, but news to me.
It's so bad it's humorous. Only a japanese company with rigid decision making could have such a big mistake make it all the way to the customer. Not to mention that placing a dashcan next to an already existing camera should not be happening in 2024. It shows the perpetual Japanese weakness in...
That's interesting too. Although no one overlanding internationally runs 35" tires. Ironically the big tires on just about all the vehicles at Overland Expo never show up in Africa on a 30,000 mile trek. Heavy suspension yes. A little lift yes. But never 35" or bigger tires. Never wide tires...
