I assume it wants higher revs before it will let you shift into M4. Does the auto not shift into 4th gear in LO?
I agree that the vehicle is not comfortable relative to other 4WD at higher speeds in LO.
All real AT tires add some noise. My tires are new but I think a loss of 1 mpg is probably a good guess. We do get some energy recapture with the hybrid from spinning up heavy tires. And at constant speed on the highway there isn't much weight penalty.
But these AT4 is particular are very heavy...
Toyota has always had rougher/higher power 4 cylinders in their trucks compared to their cars. Nothing has changed in 2024, although the hybrid engine on/off makes the engine noise more noticeable.
I'm sure Toyota's unibody SUVs are quieter.
Method 316 Titanium 17x8 | 6x5.5 | 25/5.44"
Tires are Falken AT4 285/70R17 C rated, which is a true 33" tire. The C rated tire shows a bit of radial bulge at 35 psi, which is what I wanted compared to an E rated tire.
The Westcott type lift makes both on and off road performance worse. The Westcott reps will likely tell you so if asked directly.
The many youtube videos on shocks and lifts for Tacoma and 4runner show what will be coming soon for the lC. I guess Westcott was smart for getting a product out...
I went with method 17" with I think 25mm offset. My tires are 285 and with more poke than ideal, but I'll get extended mud flaps.
I had 20" stock and I didn't see a reason to buy 18" wheels
I think the engine brake feeling is regen from automatic braking if enabled, at least if the vehicle determines it can slow down enough not using the mechanical brakes. So I think the hybrid battery is charged three ways:
1) Automatic braking when approaching traffic or (very) possibly...
If one of your local Toyota dealer discounts it will only be online. Most will not advertise but the discount will show in the parts department accessed from the dealer's website.
Quality for me is mostly about longevity. I find the interior quality of the many Toyota Ubers I travel in to be surprisingly good after hundreds of thousands of miles. Yesterday I was in a white Prius Uber with 250K miles and it look good. So interior quality for me is a non concern.
But I...
I have not seen one yet on the road. Are we waving or not? We don't want to do the jeep wave of course, so maybe we need our own gesture.
I'm not sure I would see the GX as I don't seem to notice Lexus.
We don't know the material used in either Toyota or Arb skids, but steel can be superior in strength to weight. Particularly for sheer forces.
From photos it looks to me like the 5th gen 4runner TRD skid might be aluminum. Either it's aluminum or Toyota didn't take advantage of the steel. The...
They are not going to rust any more than rock rails. They can either be maintained or not, like rock rails.
Skid plates are not permanent items. The front plate should be removed and debris cleaned with each oil change. I expect the Toyota plates to last three or four years. At that point ARB...
Neither the Toyota or the ARBs skids are going to rust becuase they are designed and manufacturered professionally. They are not made by a couple of dudes who a laser cutter.
Aluminum skids are sold by small companies that can't afford to make/order pressed lightweight steel. Toyota and ARB skids are lightweight steel. Note the horizontal corrugations in the FE Toyota front skid. Engineering and pressing metals is a major expertise of all auto companies. The reason...
Land keeping requires fighting lane keeping occasionally. Tesla and I'm sure others are much better at this function.
I'm unclear as to the relationship between lane keeping and adaptive cruise control.
I have 285/70/17. So far works well. I went with C rated Falken AT4. Don't like the weight. Don't like the poke. Like the 3 ply sidewall.
Method has sold a great many 17 inch wheels for our vehicle and no one is complaining.
You can see Doug DeMuro sit in both. He's 6'3". The LC and the upcoming 4runner are the same base vehicle. The LC's body is slightly taller and slightly shorter.
The reason to go 4runner over LC is to avoid the hybrid with a low trim model or a preference for that lines style and features...
