Yes I expect that. I was hoping that we can find a purposefully designed power extension unit given there are more and more hybrid chose to place the 12V battery in the cargo. I don't think I can place a marine battery inside the cargo in a close space. Just curious how should we wire all the...
LC is going to be the first car I own that had 12V battery sitting in the cargo. I am thinking about some improvement plan for that 12V battery, potentially replace or extend the 12V battery to another Lithium battery in the cargo.
Has anybody done this kind of work before on similar vehicle? I...
Does anybody know what is the mounting bolt specification and length/width of the roof rack on the First Edition ? I havn't seen it in person so I don't know what kind of mount I need. I have two rotopax and one pair of maxtrax boards I am trying to mount on the roof. Any suggestion?
Yep I bet in the winter the engine will run for more than a minute from cold start anyway to warm it up. Perhaps once the engine is shut down it is a good indication that engine is ready to run for real work?
This is completely different from the Prius I drove. Usually it start in EV mode and...
I don’t see keep engine idling for a min more is hurting at all. We allow the engine to run hot for an hour or two everyday, how much of that additional 1 or 2 mins at mildly running condition will wear it off early? The oil get thicken in low temperature is common sense, it’s not like it’s a...
Thanks guys. I do start to feel I might not want to do a PPF but still considering ceramic coating. I expect my car to drive in deep snow and desert, heavy dust or mud... etc but probably not doing any bushwhacking
The drive train on LC is more complicated than that. It has a hybrid battery there. The engine shuts down from time to time so I don't know the control logic on LC given I don't have the car yet.
One theory I read is that the reason you want to warm up the engine is actually not for the engine...
The biggest problem is that we have our hybrid battery on the floor, toegther with plastic compartment around it. The battery will need to be open for serviced, and (ideally) I think the solution needs to be mounted to the floor to be elegant. I could imagine this TrukVault would work nicely on...
That is the part I don’t trust the shop. They claim PPF under ceramic coating is a lifetime. Anybody with common sense understand nothing last forever. So according to your experience even just for ceramic coating it is $1500 plus $125x20. The cost including tax and inflation over ten years is...
Every shop just keep telling me how great PPF and ceramic coating is and how permanently they can last.... blah blash blah. I feel I never get a balanced view on realistic expectation.
Given LC is a car with extraordinary endurance, I highly doubt that the $5K PPF and ceramic coating I invest...
That is not against, they simply said "unnecessary". One is neutral statement, against is a negative statement.
Most of the time vehicle manual is taking a position for normal usage condition within its design scope. It is not wrong. But from what I read in various places if we are talking...
I live in a fairly unsafe area where smash-and-grab in a common scheme. I installed the center console vault in my current car and in the cargo I mount a shelf (see the attached image) and storage box link to the shelf to secure things link cameras, laptop, cashes, sunglasses, phone, and other...
I plan to go to the shop I know and ask them to change the oil in between the interval.
My main point is that engine. 10000 miles is a bit too long even for non-Turbo ones. I don't think Toyota make their recommendation because they want to save money on their free warranty
https://www.toyota.com/content/dam/toyota/brochures/pdf/2024/T-MMS-24LandCruiser.pdf
I am reading this document and very surprised to find out that the Toyota recommendation for oil change is 10000 miles. Are they really that confident to their Turbo engine, or they just encourage everybody to...
I just got the most detailed update from my dealership so far (after I told them that I got an offer for Lexus GX OverTrail+)
Apparently for my area (NorCal) they are having all the cars hold at Benicia port. The roof rack will finally arrive next Monday so I assume in a few days we can see many...
Ha almost the same as my story. My dealer gave me a new expectation of delivery next week but I have very little confidence right now.
Today the Lexus dealer also called me saying they have a GX550 Trail+ ready if I want to pickup this week. That put me in a very difficult spot. They are 95%...
I love the whole analogy. It's like we feel that is the man we need, but this is the man that we can't resist ourselves falling for. Never thought picking up cars can get this emotional.
For the least I'll tell my LC, when I finally get it, that you are worth the wait. :-)
The way I see LC is that it is more versatile in a way that it delivers a balanced compromise in many aspect of my intended usages.
For example you can’t have space and maneuverability in the same time, LC is a balance between Jeep Wrangler and large pickup to me.
For camping situation (also...
I have order a LC and currently waiting for my car.
However, I am still thinking whether I should choose a more versatile LC or something that can carry more like Tundra.
Here is my planned use of the car:
I am buying a car that can help me to do more overlanding trips for extended stay. That...
Of course I did read it. I was just wondering if they would give us more delivery delay given now all the unsold cars needs to wait for this label to arrive, even at the port, to correct the problem.
Just saw this news today, it is a week old already:
https://www.yahoo.com/news/toyota-recalls-22-vehicles-equipment-134853075.html
It sounds like more delay is to be expected. Does anybody know which trim is affected by this?
I always feel confused why Toyota always show on the website “Build your vehicle” ? I think they can manage it quite simple and quite well with something they did to Land Cruiser - just offer more trim or packages, instead of these A-Z options that their customer can never custom build into the car.
