Estimate is for the future, not for the past. It needs to know your miles per gallon to estimate it, it takes time for it to calculate your average MPG.
I think years ago someone showed pretty accurate calculations for rav4 where the estimated range trip computer had was calculated based on the average from the last 10 tanks of fuel.
If it is still the same, they may had manually put in 10 very bad estimates so that owners get used to the worst...
There could be an outdoor temperature limit for the heated seats to work. I know certain manufacturers don’t let them turn on if outside temp is above 60F or so.
It will take time for trip computer to show accurate estimates. It basically start out with worst case estimates from the factory and gradually become more accurate as it has more data on your driving habits.
I think people are free to spend their money as they see fit. There is nothing smart or not-smart either way. Peace of mind also definitely has some value, would you buy a car 5K off if it came with no warranty at all? Some will say yes, some will say no.
It engages electric motor breaking when you press the brake pedal. Unless you brake hard, or the battery is near full or hot/cold, most of what you feel as breaking is probably electric motor.
Primarily to improve fuel efficiency (0.5 to 2 MPG) and reduce road/wind noise. They also improve high speed stability and engine cooling to some extent.
I mean they may not be running the regular ECU/hybrid controller programming at port. I am sure there are different modes mechanics can put turns the car in where the engine does not turn off.
If anyone is interested, the OEM tires on the 20" rims (Dunlop Grandtrek PT22) are produced in Japan by a company called Sumitomo Rubber Industries.
The tires are supposedly mud and snow rated, and specifically designed for Land Cruiser...
Yeah, if extended warranties saved money, no manufacturer would offer them. It basically is like a casino, house has higher odds of winning and will profit in the long run. Most people who get an extended warranty lose money but lucky (or unlucky :)) few may end up saving money.
So I did some digging. It turns out, the engine has 11:1 compression ratio. I assume this is the effective max compression of fully boosted engine (otherwise the effective compression would be above 20:1 with 15 psi boost).
Recommended octane to fully utilize 11:1 compression is 92 octane.
No because if something like this is going to fail, it will not wait 5 years to fail.
Article is somewhat of a click bait. There are 13 powertrain complaints on nhtsa website for 2024 Tacoma. As a comparison 2024 Wrangler has 25 engine and 10 powertrain complaints.
I am super happy that they used an actual torsen (likely type C) limited slip central differential as opposed to using an open diff with break simulated LSD.
A difference between an EV and a hybrid is that in most EVs “default” regenerative braking is stronger . This means that as soon as you lift you feet of the throttle, battery draws large amounts of current from the electric motor an slows do car down, allowing one pedal driving. In hybrids...
