Are you sure other cars you had were real leather? Leather to a large extent has the same thickness, as it is an animal product. You can change it’s thickness by coating with vinyl etc, but if it is coated to a level that thickness increases significantly, it no longer is leather.

I mean it is not a hands free driving system. It’s function is to prevent the car to slide of the other next lane if the driver is not paying full attention to the road. As the name suggests, it is an assist system. Driver is still 100% responsible for driving the vehicle. I think a lot of...
There already is a non-hybrid 4cylinder (inline 4, not v4) turbo, which will be used for 4Runner. They already listed which trim is coming with which engine, lower trims will come with the turbo I4, higher trims will come with turbo hybrid I4.
And TRD offroad will certainly be turbo hybrid since that is the most powerful configuration for this built.
GX550 will probably get a hybrid option as well.
To add a bit more detail. It is not the higher octane fuel that is more efficient, but the fact that a higher compression engine is more efficient. Both types of fuels will have equal efficiency if the engine is designed to be low compression, or if the timing is retarded by ECU to reduce...
An advantage of full time 4WD in low traction loose surfaces like is when we make sharp turns, back tires do not slip and spin and dig into sand.
This is a big issue with part time 4wd systems where the back tires can burry themselves into sand in tight turns and get stuck.
By “it should not overheat”, I mean it is not acceptable that it overheats, not that it will not occur. If the transmission is overheating going up hill on a paved road on the cars own weight, it should have been not rated to tow 6000 lbs, because it will overheat with that on a flat road with...
Hi all, I have a strange issue with the built in GPS. For the last month or so, nav occasionally loads without any streets shown (please see attached image). If I put in a destination is still sets a route, but only showing the streets the route is going through. This makes me think the streets...
I don't know about Toyota. But tow/haul mode in some other manufactures locks the torque converter, which reduces slip and overheating, so it is worth a try. Manually using a lower gear may also achieve the same thing.
Another possibility is that there is excessive slippage due to gear hunting or the torque convertor not locking up, and that causes overheating. Both of these would be software issues that need to be patched.
Have you tried putting the transmission in manual mode and selecting a relatively low...
Temp looks normal, assuming ambient temperature was also in that range. Do you also get random temperature spikes in city driving, similar to the ones you described on dirt roads that may also indicate an issue with the sensor?
I am leaning towards a temperature sensor issue since I cannot see...
4WD&AWD are not well defined terms anyway, especially outside of north America.
But, in my opinion, there are two types of systems, cheaper/simpler part-time 4WD systems, and more expensive/complicated full-time 4WD systems. There are multiple ways how a full-time 4WD system can be built...
C'mon now. Do you expect the manual to list every single condition that a function could be used for? Brake hold, as the name suggest, holds the breaks applied, you can use it at stop sings, red lights, at your driveway, parking lot. Does it really needs to give a list conditions where such a...
Both configurations can be used for efficiency. But the reason why it doesn’t work very well on LC is that it has a small electric motor. So for the vast majority of applications, the electric motor needs to work together with the engine, cutting back some of the efficiency gain.
As a...
How much was your insurance. For me the issue was expensive the insurance was.
Very few independent shops are willing to work on electric cars due to the difficulty of ordering parts for them (and lack of aftermarket parts), so you need to use authorized body shops that often have 1-2 month...
Not only useless, they are paint maintenance nightmares.
If you use washer fluid antifreeze or bug removal additives, every time they spray, the hood and front bumpers get sprayed with washer fluid that leaves hard water marks that etch into the clear coat, and won’t come out unless waxed with...
I believe this is only for 1958, for some reason, LC and FE only have trip average and average since reset. I find the tank average to be the most useful one, so it is a shame that it is not available for LC and FE trims.
