Yes, in 1st gen Prius, this would feel like you suddenly lost half of you breaking power. In more "modern" models, hybrid control system automaticity adjust the hydraulic breaks to compensate for the loss of regen baking power from the electric motor.
You can occasionally still feel the loss...
You may be able to turn off just the rear detection from the center screen. Open the 360-camera options and go into the settings menu, there is an option to adjust detection distance. I am not sure, buy maybe you can specifically turn off the rear detection.
Does it even have regen breaks at the wheel at all?
As far as I understand, regen breaking is achieved through the electric motor as the momentum of the car spins the electric motor, which generates current and charges the battery. Electromagnetic field created at the motor during this process...
Yeah quite different compared to regular Toyota hybrids. Regular Toyota hybrids like prius and rav4 have an advance planetary gear transmission that couples electric motors and ICE. So there is no need to decouple things from each other with a clutch. Transmission can simply cut to the power...
Hybrid control unit is very conservative to not let battery level get low, since it uses the hybrid battery&motor for other "essential functions", most notably, cranking the ICE.
It has a 1.87 kwh (=2.5 horsepower for an hour) battery with 50 horsepower electric motor. A 1.87 kwh batter would...
in my opinion, new 4Runner looks way too similar to the Tacoma. Some people might like that, but to me it looks like a Tacoma with bed shell. It is almost like a wrangler and gladiator.
Out going 4Runner did not look like that, and had more character.
Should everything expand proportionally though? I know metal expansions can cover up manifold leaks, but that is because manifold and the engine block are at different temperatures. Cylinder wall and piston should be at the same temperature.
That is why I think the blowoff valve is more likely to cause an exhaust leak like sound, in comparison to wastegate valve. The noise from the waste gate should be more insulated since it diverts flow to/from the exhaust.
I my opinion, most turbos sounds pretty bad when cold. But I wouldn’t be surprised if this one sounds particularly bad if Toyota put the blowoff valve directly on to the compressor, rather than venting it to the air box (which provides some sound insulation).
I am wondering if you put the...
Ok, I figured this out. For the navigation to display on the HUD, you need to put the driver assist stuff on the instrument cluster display. Then navigation will pop up when you get close to intersections etc.
My instrument cluster is set to “1-dial” mode, and driver assist stuff are in the...
It could also be the turbo blow off vent opening to release the compressed air. Based on the videos I have seen, the noise is primarily coming if you rev the cold engine, under these conditions, ECU would probably not allow boosting the engine and vent the compressed gas. Blow of valves...
I have a sneaking suspicion that HUD navigation will display if the lane trace assist is turned off. LTA is basically always on, and set to pop over other display options . I will turn it off to see if navigation will show.
Ok so I went over the manual and verified that navigation can be displayed in full mode. It should show up at the area that is marked with "A". Strangely, there is info on how to display hybrid system status/tachometer, but no info on how to get navigation to display.
