This has Toyota fanboy written all over it. copy and paste of how engines work to gain credibility, not fully reading/understanding what is going on with the situation...just to say I won't like the LC because you are playing it off as "normal". FFS, I didn't tell them to tear apart my engine or...
I know their are some engines built at Hino due to the issue of previous model engine issues coming out of that plant. I don't know if Tahara makes engines.
weird that it says "uphill". I wonder if that's a gravity fuel delivery thing. though you'd think the spray would be pressurized enough to account for that.
I was told that when the engine heats up that metal expands cleans up the slop essentially. I'm no engine mechanic but just relaying here. And yes. I'm pretty sure it's the rod bearing.
"the engineer removed fuel from each cylinder to locate which cylinder the noise was coming from. When removing fuel from cylinder 1 the noise went away. This lead to a total tear down of the engine (in pictures). The engineer is thinking bad universal bearing in the block. There were metal...
are you? Because that same sound was tracked down to my engine cylinder 1 issue. engine torn down in pics on post 1. I'd say taking it to your dealer to have them diagnose it would be a better option.
All I would say is to take it to Toyota to look at. Maybe that will alleviate some of the mental stress. I'm not happy about it but...I get that production errors happen in the first year. The worst part is the customer service timeline to get things finalized. The dealership has been amazing...
I hope it's just a wastegate rattle and my Toyota dealership tore apart my engine for no reason. That would be great news for everyone. Keep us posted.
It's hard to tell if yours is with throttle or if it's just rattling somewhere else. I'd schedule a call with your Toyota dealership and see if they can trace down the noise.
what other cars have you heard with turbos that sound that shitty? I'm not saying you are wrong but... Toyota f'd up if this is the case. Sounds like a bad exhaust leak. The sound my LC made got traced back to Cylinder 1 issue but... final word is not out on that yet either.
I only had for 500 miles and filed up with Premium only. The dealership car which is new from the factory(the one filmed) has whatever they put in it.
maybe y'all's is different noise but mine was a cylinder one issue(sounded the same as the other LCs at the dealership and didn't give me the...
Just that they thought it could be coming from cylinder 1 due to removing fuel from it and it went away from the cyl. Found some metal shavings in the oil. waiting on the engineer to come out and take a look at it.
yes. it will make that noise in park or when driving down the road on a cold...
Well.. no answer from them other than they will continue to sell them to people who don't realize there is an issue. I'm getting my money back. Not sure what I'm going to do now for a new vehicle. Still trying to figure that out.
That's probably what you are hearing. All I know is they pulled the fuel / ignition from cylinder 1 and the sound went away. So they tore my original LC to pieces and now a Toyota Engineer is coming out to take a look at it at some point. I probably won't hear anything back about it since mine...
Just check another two at Corwin and same thing with Cold engine. After it warms up (about 5 mins) it goes away. Sounds like crap though for the first 5-10 minutes.
all right. The update you all have asked for.
Dealership where I bought from was going to exchange my LC out for one that came in this week. Was all excited and then went to check it out today (23 Jul 2024) and same thing on multiple vehicles.
Called Toyota Brand Engagement raised my concern...
Got a call from Toyota dealership in town. "We are working with Toyota engineer to help identify the issue and Dave your advisor will call you with updates". I then asked how long it would take to diagnose the issue. "We don't know". I asked.. how long until Toyota says... we need to buy this...
No updates other than I called Toyota Corporate and they are working with Corwin Toyota to get me into a new rig. I haven't heard anything from Toyota Corporate or Corwin Toyota this morning. Corporate said it could take a couple days to get back to me.
