There's been a small trickle of Premium Package Land Cruisers w/o 20" wheels in California, mostly southern. My local NorCal dealer is still only getting them with 20" wheels. One dealer contacted me and is trying to find one he can trade for. For now I'm still waiting . . .
Toyota has rolled out a few 2025 models (and US pricing) this week, but not the Land Cruiser yet. When I asked my dealer a little while back he said his guess was November, but made it clear it was just a guess. I'll be curious to see what the next round of allocations look like, if it's as...
It is, it's just isn't common.
One of our local gas stations. No ethanol in any of the fuel either. It is a kind of specialty gas station, it also happens to be on my way to work. Back when I had a WRX that would ping on 91 under hard acceleration I'd stop here and boost the octane up to...
17" wheels are a very tight fit. I asked Method about their wheels and they said it's just a few mm clearance from the brake calipers. So they fit, but there's a potential to get gravel or something jammed in there. (I'd say especially in the case of driving through a mix of mud and gravel --...
It's different (shorter). See this post (PT228-35244 on the left, PT228-35241 on the right):
Annoyingly PT228-35241 is still not showing up in Toyota's web parts system. If your local dealer uses the Toyota system you have to contact them directly.
I love the one pedal driving/regenerative braking on our plug in hybrid, but yes as @Tripod1404 points out that's only really possible when you have a large battery. I'm disappointed to hear about the Land Cruiser's odd braking behavior when it's coming to a stop, but that does sound a lot like...
I’ve been wondering this myself. I have Thule cross bars that will attach to the mid-trim rails, but I’m not sure the furthest forward position will provide enough stability for our ~17 ft tandem kayak. I’d love a full length rail option!
I’ve been talking to a couple dealers and got super specific/picky about what I wanted in part because they were getting lots of allocations to choose from. The last two allocations they’ve each gotten one at most, and Toyota skipped a week for Labor Day. Lots and then almost nothing the last...
If the 32 oz fits upside down, then the 24 oz size is probably a perfect fit. I see they also have new 32 oz bottles and mugs with a narrow bottom that will probably fit (but they look awfully top heavy).
Just keep in mind that you've only got a few mm of clearance from the brake calipers with these 17" wheels according to Method. They fit, but it's a tight fit. Unfortunately they don't offer them in that same offset and 18". I keep reading the bead grid wheels are really nice. And there are...
The last I saw, the off-road trims will be part time 4WD and have a locking rear diff. The Limited trim will be full time 4WD and have a locking center diff but no rear locking diff. That was based on the initial press release info.
All this has me wondering if any SF Bay area folk have tried driving up Mount Hamilton or Mount Diablo. Those are both often slow and twisty ~4000 ft climbs.
Icon has a video on wheels and larger tires, they suggest a wheel with an offset around 40 is best for upsizing tires (vs. 60 or 70 stock). Icon has one with that offset, Method 318 and 319's come in that offset, the Toyota Tacoma TRD wheel has a 45 offset. The Icon video says that a 20 offset...
My FJ is probably a little taller than the Land Cruiser, has no steps, and I've always just stepped up into it. So has my wife. The grab handles help I guess. Neither of us are very tall (or very young). When we looked at the Land Cruisers we both stepped right over the running board without...
There are surface mount 12v outlets, I got one at a local auto parts store and installed it in the drivers side glove box of my 2008 FJ to provide a plugin for my GPS. All you need to do is decide where to put the hole (and make sure you have access to the back of the hole). I had a more...
With the 20" wheels it seems to be a Toyota regional thing that the dealers can't control. Out here in California nearly all the Land Cruiser trim w/premium package come with 20" wheels from the factory. Go a state or two over to Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and they have 18" wheels. My...
With my FJ's I always specifically ask and print out the rotation pattern. With the land cruiser, putting the spare in the trunk might be a good addition.
What offset on the Method wheels? Icon did a video suggesting a 40 offset will fit 285's better than the stock offset. But that 25 or less risks running into the fender under flex.
Markarian 421 is a galaxy (#421 in Benjamin Markarian’s list of UV bright galaxies) that emits a lot of gamma rays, and something I studied briefly in grad school.
