Huh, One Toyota didn't mention the trade in thing to me. But I'm doubtful a dealer will give me a reasonable trade in value for my 2014 TTUE FJ MT anyway. As long as Carvana is still in business, most dealers can't even beat their prices.
SFBay area dealers I've talked to:
Toyota Walnut Creek: MSRP, waiting list requires a deposit, and it's long enough they don't expect to get through the list this year.
One Toyota Oakland: MSRP, also has a waiting list and requires a deposit.
Dealers that are marking up:
The infamous Dublin...
That's my disappointment as well -- not the MPG but the range. It will be better than my FJ, but I was really hoping for more like 500 miles as well. (Our other cars have spoiled me.)
Thanks yes this exactly. Our other car and the one before it are/were both turbo hybrids, and when you go to accelerate off the line the electric motor's job is to fill in until the turbo gets up to speed. Both of those power trains (VW and Volvo) are nice and smooth and especially the VW felt...
One member here confirmed that 285/65/R18 fits (but sticks down a bit). It would be nice to have a list of what fits there as we try larger tires. For folks who don't want a rear mounted tire that's likely to be a tighter limit than the wheel well. (Although I'd still like to know the largest...
I was thinking of exactly this video. That looks like the 1958 & LC/LC skid plate, and it looks super thin, very minimal protection. I'd love to see thickness measurements on the standard plate and the FE/upgrade plate. (If you have a first edition and don't have calipers but would do the...
What makes the 0.7" difference? The nominal tire size difference isn't quite that much, but I suppose depending on the individual tires, that's possible.
Edit to add: the Toyota specs page still lists the same 8.0" ground clearance for all three trims. The August 1 press release says "Ground...
Looking at images, the non-FE plate is black and looks to be very thin metal. In some pre-production photos it didn't look like it went back very far, someone just posted a photo from an 1958 on FB and it looks like it might be multi-piece and maybe covers the same area as this one?
Some...
I just heard this from my salesman this morning: "Toyota has just put a hold on the Land Cruisers that are at the port. They never tell us why." This is SFBay area.
It seems like every new car manual says this now (no chains)?
Edit to add: in a video from Toyta's SEMA measuring session, one of the Toyota folks said they are designed to fit 33" tires stock. Which would seem to say there's some extra room.
In California at least the reality is that...
Based on current use of my FJ: occasional trips around town, at least one serious winter road trip per year, at least one vacation road trip per year to some place in the southwest where it will need to deal with off road trails to get us where we’re going. Plus a few long weekends a year that...
Since the base model doesn’t have them, and the mid and FE trims have two different options, they’d have to be removable. I guess the question would be what parts are needed, and can you get them in the right color since the base trim has fewer colors.
Are you getting different wheels or trying the stock wheels? Since the engineer said it was designed to fit 33" wheels and the standard sizes are all fairly wide, I'm guessing they will fit the wheel well at least.
