He's not talking about tire size. He's talking about standard light truck tires vs. all terrain and mud terrain. Get an all terrain tire if you want a more indestructible tire you can take off-road without destroying it. Get a mud terrain tire if you want to go rock crawling. Stick with...
For a few years I had a Subaru instead of a Toyota truck/suv. I rented a lot of 4WD SUVs in that time -- a couple XTerras, a few Jeeps, a couple Hummer H3s, for light offroading in Utah and Nevada mostly. We got flats in nearly every standard tire those came with. Getting tired of changing...
Someone in one of the Facebook groups said their Toyo Open Country A/T III LT285/70R18's fit in the spare location, those are spec'd at 33.7". Either his spare is really aired down or some of these measurements are off.
That's interesting, you're not the first to put these on and say they just barely fit in the spare location. I'm wondering if they are running larger than the official specs say? What PSI do you have in them?
I missed this comment earlier, I posted elsewhere that the Japan Land Cruiser uses the built in cameras for dash cams. I don't know if they are different spec cameras? Let me find the page...original and translated attached. "Drive recorder (front and rear) Records images from the in-vehicle...
Just to add, I was like 50th on a local dealer's wait list, this was the second Friday in a row he's called and offered me one. If I wasn't picky I'd have one on the way.
Yup, Mount Whitney hadn't come out of the clouds yet when I took that one.
Edit: a much less satisfying photo of the FJ and Mount Whitney from the hotel room...🤣
275/70R18 is a nice size and fits well. Or go with the stock 265/70R18 size and something in standard load for a lighter tire. See the spreadsheet linked in my signature.
Strangely in the last year or so this had started happening to us in our FJ! Some people were super confused when we explained it's a 10 year old vehicle (that hasn't been sold in the US for a decade)! I've been taking it as a sign that it's clearly the right time for Toyota to roll out the...
I see these on eBay . . . don't know if they would work on US left hand drive LCs if they are different for driver's and passengers side? Also no idea if they are actually Toyota parts. But given how little storage space there is, maybe interesting (at a more reasonable price)?
If you're not going to be in sand or rock crawling, the 20" wheels are probably fine, you can look at the "20in Tires" sheet on the spreadsheet linked in my signature. If you're in Texas, winter performance might not be as important to you and you might look at some mud terrain tires as well --...
Any suggestions on a good dealer to buy an extended warranty from (now or later)? I tried Big Two Toyota in Chandler and basically haven't gotten any response(*see below...). There was another dealer who used to do this years ago but I get no reply when I try to email him, he must have...
I've been trying to decide myself whether to settle for the 20" wheels, a few of the reasons I've given myself have been listed above. One I haven't seen -- for the three peak all terrain tires I'm focused on, there seem to be better standard load (lighter) tire options in the 33" range for the...
I put my keys in an old brass candy dish. It seems to work pretty well. Our Volvo key has a motion sensor in it and stops transmitting if it hasn't moved for something like 20-30 minutes.
