Took it off-roading..:it’s in the shop

A LC is really not the machine to be jumping dunes!

What to do about the horn?

Sore subject, and you are 100% correct! However, finally justice, as a local shop who illegally modified diesel engines recently paid a huge fine, and the owner is spending several months behind bars.

What to do about the horn?

Rexburg, Idaho. However, select drivers can certainly try one's patience. Serious, virtually never hear a horn, but bite my tongue occasionally. :)

What to do about the horn?

In our neck of the woods, it is RARE to hear a horn. Courteous and patient drivers.

    5 tire rotation

Thanks! This would work, albeit in the long run the left side tires would wear faster than the right. Probably not a big concern...

    5 tire rotation

Possibly outdated wisdom, but I always rotate tires so they will turn in the same direction, i.e. front-rear. Would this even be possible rotating five? I think not.

Took it off-roading..:it’s in the shop

Except on the FE, it appears the OEM skid plates are seriously lacking. Best to term them brush shields I think.

Took it off-roading..:it’s in the shop

These are the upgraded skid plates, correct? Noticed a video where some skid plates are very thin, and even partially plastic.

    Semi-nude Cargo Area

Could be wrong, but I believe the 120 lbs. caution is for the area over the recess. This is understandable, and could easily be solved with plywood.

Jumping over from the Tacoma 4G forum

Yep, good people here. Welcome! Sorry to hear of your Taco, but you will surely enjoy the LC.

    New LC owner

Congrats, and welcome to the forum.! Yes, for sure, come out west where much of the land is in public domain. Not to say the Bureau of Land Management cannot be controlling, but still plenty of off-roading available. Cannot speak for New Mexico, as the vast majority of our off-roading has been...

Differences between 1958 and LC Grade

This alludes to my suspicion of why they recommend, but do not demand, premium fuel, to have an increased 1 MPG per the feds.

Differences between 1958 and LC Grade

It makes one wonder where else corners may have been cut? Sound deadening? Amazingly, the 1958 has tri-zone HVAC, which also amazingly, was omitted in the GX Overtrail variants.

Road trip- 7 states; 2,791 miles

Moved to Nevada in 1963, and the speed limit was "Reasonable and Proper", i.e. if the conditions permitted there was no limit. I believe Montana was the same. Happy to hear you can finally pump your own gas.

    Darn Seatbelt Warning new 2024

I perfectly understand the gates issue. They can be a pain. Was just looking at it from the standpoint of the dealer being requested to disable a safety device.

    Darn Seatbelt Warning new 2024

Given the liability issue, I certainly do not blame the dealer!

Road trip- 7 states; 2,791 miles

100 MPH! Wow! Of course, Interstates are now 80 MPH. This brings back the painful memory when the national speed limit was briefly set at 55.

Oil and Filter Change, easy peasy.

The driveshafts have grease fittings (zerks), correct? How difficult do you assess the front drive shaft fittings to access? On our dearly departed 4Runner they were a PAIN!

    Finger prints on touch screen

I have just quickly misted it with a bit of Windex, and has not seemed to do any harm. This said, seems I may have read a caution against using glass cleaner? Have you noticed the post re glass protective covers which are available?

    FE Roof Rack Wind Noise

Welcome to the forum IrishFan! Have noticed some reviews of the FE roof rack indicating it was lacking in robustness, in particular, but not limited to, the front air dam. I will probably investigate aftermarket offerings.

Same here, did a LOT of research! Nearly went for a GX, but in the end the LC won out. Enjoy!

New LC Owner - Heritage Blue FE

Thanks! 2 MPH at highway speed is not bad at all. I have seen devices which plug to the OBD connector to allegedly address this issue and others, but not sure if they function as advertised.

New LC Owner - Heritage Blue FE

Can I presume the tires are not the same OD as the OEM's? If true, any remedy for the resulting speedometer/odometer error? Love the screen protectors. No issue with the touch screen response?
