Oh, there is a special threaded funnel one can purchase to make adding the motor oil much easier, and less likely to make a mess. Presumably this applies the LC, as it has for all of our Toyotas in recent memory. Amazon.com
I notice the LC has greaseable U-joints and drive shaft slip joints. I believe the recommendation is 15K miles, except 5K for severe use, such as in water. Do NOT neglect these, else the driveshafts will wear and develop play. For our 4Runner, did these every 5K concurrent with oil changes...
Would really be interested in the cost to convert from rectangular to round. Would wager several hundred dollars per side. Also, would like to know the comparative "see down the road" effectiveness. Where the rubber meets the road, but in this case, lighting. Lot of critters on the roads...
We know it is a sunroof drain issue which is the reason for the port holds. Can we only imagine what is involved IF a procedure such as this is required?
Obviously those with a sunroof are being delayed. Is this impacting those without? In any case, welcome to the forum dcchris, and now you are in the line with the rest of us. :(
So, the aftermarket PPF is higher quality than OEM? Of course one has a distinct advantage with the OEM, i.e. covered by the factory warranty, even if one relocates, and Toyota is not about to fold, even with the Tundra engine disaster. :)
The LC's hybrid battery supplies the inverter, and I believe it is in the 400V realm. Typical solar panels, albeit they can be manufactured to supply 400V, do not commonly exist for that voltage. I think probably not practically feasible.
Yes, the vehicle A/C uses an electric compressor, so the engine does not have to be running. A well-engineered system in my opinion. As I understand it, no alternator either. The only disappointment is a conventional water pump, belt-driven. Don't know the logic behind this. AND, the engine is...
I certainly agree with you re the wheels protruding from the trucks! Here in snow country the obnoxious drivers love it when the snow/slush slings everywhere, and onto nearby vehicles, often containing gravel.
The camper A/C unit would have to comfortably draw below the rated 2400 watts of the LC inverter. Yes, it is my understanding the LC motor would start up to recharge the battery, but hopefully somebody can confirm this. Personally, would use a Honda inverter generator, as they are very quiet...
I have never seen any hood PPF's which were total coverage, only the more rock-prone hood front. Don't know if there is basis for it, but prefer port-installed PPF, whereas the dealers like to do this for increased profit. In the case of the Land Cruiser, the windshield will certainly be a rock...
Welcome to the forum tennktm! I share your frustration. Is yours a Land Cruiser trim level, or ? Not sure I have seen anybody take delivery of the middle trim. At the onset Toyota alleged only the FE's would be produced, then the two other trims to follow. However, I do see 1958's being...
An unknown percentage of LC's are produced at the "Hino" (near Tokyo) facility. There seems to be no rhyme or reason in this regard. The Tahara is the more highly regarded plant of the two. This said, definitely give me a Toyota assembled in Japan!
Welcome Hashim! We are very honored to have you as a member of the forum, and looking forward to gleaning information from your rich depth of knowledge with Land Cruisers.
