4Runner delayed due to shared parts shortage

This is VERY good news. Toyota is doing the right thing. Now we need to know the criteria to have the engine replaced.

    Break-in period

20 hours just sounds a bit excessive, but you have witnessed it first-hand, cannot dispute. Sad to hear Toyota does this... Some procedure when coming out of U.S. plant?

4Runner delayed due to shared parts shortage

Seems it came directly from Toyota that the headlight assemblies would be easily interchangeable? Not so?

4Runner delayed due to shared parts shortage

I am surprised Toyota allowed this to leak out, being as closed-mouthed as they tend to be.

    Break-in period

I seriously dispute this. Can this be substantiated? Personally, would never drive for 5 hours at Interstate speeds immediately following delivery, but to each their own...

Wheeling the Cruiser with some old pals

Seems a model is about all I can wish for! Darned small dealer is dragging their feet. Owner grabbed the first (FE), friend of the brother of the owner got the 2nd. Sadly, not very high on the pecking order, in spite of getting in the queue a year ago.

How is the backup cam and or digital rearview mirror at night?

A nice feature, but don't use it on our Highlander. However, if I had the vehicle full of cargo, a different story.

    Break-in period

Possibly/probably coincidence, but my only disaster with a vehicle consuming oil when new was when I purchased it in Detroit, and drove back to Las Vegas. Even then I attempted to vary the speed, but that is tough to do on the Interstate. Personally, I think Toyota knows best, and it is printed...

    Hello from NC!!

Understand. Just the opposite here in the desert west. Dust-dust-dust! Heaven help one if they are with a group traveling off-road.

    Hello from NC!!

Have viewed some tests, and yes, the K&M air filters increase performance a bit, but they do a relatively poor job in dusty conditions. I would not use one if off-roading, especially following other vehicles.

    Hello from NC!!

Welcome to the forum LandCruzinJeff. HEY, that is MY LC! Well, the one we have on order. Long story, but our dealer is being less than proactive. What do you plan on tweaking?

Good video about the new LC being produced in both the Tahara and Hamura plants.

Good stuff! Now I feel somewhat better about the plant source. However, this said, what would we expect the Toyota representative to say? In another of David's videos it was said the Tahara plant is more highly regarded. His opinion has changed? Just keep in mind David is very pro-Toyota, and...

    Does dealer you choose matter

Certainly, they can trade, but depends on the relationship between the dealers. I would be for dumping the rude salesperson. As a group, I find they are terribly arrogant and pushy. Find out when his/her days off are, and then approach another salesperson. They are a dime a dozen. They are NOT...

    Does dealer you choose matter

Absolutely depends on the particular dealer. Rely on your gut instincts. Will they refund your deposit without a fight? Meteor Shower, our choice also... In our neck of the woods, it seems the larger the dealer, the more will-oiled spiel they spout, and more smoke & mirrors. If you are doing a...

Looking good!!! Even with the Hino plant, I think your odds of a good build are much better than USA or Mexico.

    Air conditioning in hot climates

Once toyed with the notion of a GX Overtrail, but the lack of the tri-zone, and related rear controls, cinched the LC for me. Well, and of course doubts regarding the V6. Also, come to think of it, being a non-hybrid, the GX probably has a belt-driven A/C compressor.

    Air conditioning in hot climates

Got that right! In my working years with IBM, was sent to Phoenix several times, and the heat was unbelievable!

    Air conditioning in hot climates

As I understand it, and could be mistaken, but I believe the A/C compressor is electric, so not affected by the engine shutting off. A lot better than the old belt-driven compressors, their capacity dependent on engine RPM.

    GX550 or LC

I presume this a result of the turbo taking a bit to spool up? Once there, a miniscule difference. Yep, also will take the mileage. Just wish the LC did not suggest premium fuel, although that is in question.

    GX550 or LC

I find it amazing the obsession nowadays with 0-60 times, and not just referring to the LC. Geesh, it is primarily an off-roading vehicle. Maybe a Rivian? Agree re the optioning, probably not wishing to impact the announced 2025 4Runner.

    GX550 or LC

A decision point for me also, as the Toyota dealer is literally walking distance, and Lexus is 4 hours one-way. Sure, they offer a longer warranty and a loaner, but still...
