Hey Thx_1158, welcome!! Plenty of info here, and more to come as the number of owners multiply. This forum sure has helped me decide on a Land Cruiser vs the competition.
I don't understand. It would seem a simple calculation by the computer, i.e. miles driven/gallons used. I can visualize better economy after the engine becomes broken in, and one might improve on their driving habits.
This is interesting, as I was under the impression, short of the DC motor and associated clutches forward of the transmission, they were the same 8-speed internally...
Welcome Budsterw! Becoming a bit long in the tooth (82) to attempt what I did in my younger days with a 4x4, but still might put ours through some of its paces.
I would carefully use a slender screwdriver inserted alongside the belt where it exits from the tensioner, and see if the belt could be turned on the belt take-up drum just a tad farther to trip the ratchet pawl.
My understanding is yes, it does. However, have read where possibly the Tacoma has deleted the external transmission cooler. Hope that is not the case on the LC. Possibly an owner can verify re the LC?
Not sure if it has the ability to turn the electric motor backwards, as it couples to the direct output of the engine, but the electronics can switch modes between battery power to assist, and conversely turning the motor into a generator to charge the battery.
My concern, is what can be done to recalibrate the odometer/speedometer? I find it difficult to believe auto makers cannot come up with a system to calibrate utilizing the GPS built into all modern vehicles.
Hey, you ran off with our LC! Just kidding, and welcome to the forum. Seriously however, this is what we have on order, especially the Java interior. Do you like the Java?
Well, belts do last a long time, but still a failure point. As long as it utilizes a tensioner, and not a stretch belt. On the positive side, a traditional water pump is most likely less expensive than electric.
My guess, for what it is worth, the engines are becoming "thin-skinned" compared to the past, i.e. not as much metal/mass to heat up to operating temperature. Nowadays, many have electric water pumps, so zero circulation when warming up the engine. However, and not sure about this until we...
Hmmm, I aways thought a PTC heater, a resistance heater, was primarily applicable to EV's, not IC or hybrid vehicles. However, it is my understanding with the LC, and other hybrid vehicles, one can leave the ignition on, and the engine will start/stop as necessary to warm the vehicle. This is...
I would not be too concerned regarding the QC port holds. From all available information, it had to do with a sunroof drain. Have not seen the engine failure post, or are you referring the Tundra V-6 disaster?
