Congrats Sam, and welcome to the forum. Surprised to hear FE's are still available, or did you wait a spell for it? Our LC/PP is still in the queue...maybe...
Welcome aboard DJW! Also considered the 2025 4Runner, but liked the interior of the LC better. Sadly, the new 4Runner is a Tacoma from the back seat forward. Back to when the 4Runner was hatched, a Tacoma truck modified for a 2nd row.
Have not had the opportunity to personally inspect a 1958, but it appears a lot of hard plastics vs soft-touch. However, it does get tri-zone HVAC, which is a surprise, as even the GX Overtrail does not have this. Of course, the smaller center screen. No front axle disconnect, but not a big deal...
Best check the portable A/C for wattage requirements. In our case, not from the LC (yet), but I run a 12 gauge extension cord from our Honda generator to power the fridge, a few lights, and the gas fireplace if winter.
Again, disappointing. I had falsely presumed the Cool Box was self-sufficient. Typically, in the winter I go to manual mode to avoid cycling the compressor. However, in the cooler months a person doesn't have much of a hankering for cold drinks.
Wow, Captain Trips is correct, appears to be integrated into the HVAC. It must demand the A/C compressor be used, even in the winter. Not sure this is a good design...
Oh, I was under the impression that it was a standalone unit, as some report it emits a noise when cooling, such as from a mini-compressor. However, makes sense it depends on the HVAC. Thinking a bit farther, how would it function in the winter, with the HVAC system focusing on heat?
In exactly the same boat, 4 hours one-way to the nearest Lexus dealer. Besides, except the Overtrail variant with a dumbed-down HVAC system, the GX is a street queen.
They would try, for sure. Once owned a Ford pickup with serious issues. Ford immediately refused a buyback, but a lemon law lawyer quickly changed their mind.
Just picked up an oil filter for our Highlander at the dealer. $5.97, including the drain plug washer. When we get our LC, will stick with OEM during the warranty period. Also a WIX fan, but better safe than sorry is my logic. If an engine failure, and Toyota points their finger at the oil filter.
Good to hear MHead. The comparisons were between the rectangular and round. Yes, on our Highlander the headlights are auto-leveling, a nice feature, but any repair could be expensive!
And, not when you use premium? Very interesting, and valuable info. Presumably you are at a very low altitude? However, and don't have a clear reading, being a turbo engine, is altitude much of a factor? In our neck of the woods, at 4800', "regular" is 85 octane.
Thanks! Sort of conflicting information I think, compared to the previous page. Sure wish Toyota engineering would render an official statement. As previously stated, sure would be nice to see if the HP/Torque curves are identical between the Tacoma and LC.
A proper answer would be directly from Toyota engineering, but sadly they will surely avoid a direct answer. I still think it has to do with achieving an MPG goal for the LC, and given the additional weight and boxy shape, premium fuel was necessary to achieve the magic economy number.
Hello in my birth city! (1941). Only in reverse, and only when the LC is cold. For sure that may take the dealership a bit of time to figure out. If it were me, I would pressure them to replace the pads.
Why is it described as "Cheap, port installed PPF"? Is it substantially sub-par compared to other PPF? Have had this protection on several vehicles, such as our 2005 4Runner, in the same spot, and it never yellowed or peeled.
Also holding my breath our LC will arrive with 18's as ordered, but the reality is that Toyota is forcing 20"'s on most orders. We are at their mercy, and this gets my ire up a tad.
