I agree with this. I think the whole logistics/communication chain is unnecessarily flawed. Toyota has an entire division dedicated to brand loyalty and a little visibility from corporate and honesty at the dealer level would go a long way to improving this.
I’m still stoked to get the truck...
My dealer provided a signed purchase contract post deposit, with a VIN and a delivery window to the dealer. I structured the sale of my vehicle for the tail end of this window, after receiving confirmation the vehicle was at Port with impending transport to the dealer - from the dealer.
I made...
Couldn’t echo this anymore or say it differently. My dealer assured me 5/17 was the absolute latest date they would have the LC as it arrived at port on 4/22. I sold my vehicle the first week of May as I had a business trip and expected to pick it up after I got back.
Here we are and I just...
Depends on whether or not they have a fix. Toyota has been having a rough time of it as I believe they just put a stop production on Tundras due to a recall of 100k plus trucks for machining issues with the engine. That will be a very expensive and lengthy issue for them to fix…
The last thing...
Congrats from another WA FE purchaser. Mine is sitting there with yours in Portland. I’ve had a Jeep for years (after owning a 5th Gen 4R) and I’m looking forward to getting back into a Toyota - and doing a little overlanding. I ordered an Inspired Overland (IO) XL roof top tent which should be...
When did your FE get there? Mine was assembled on 3/21 and has been there in Portland since 4/22.. still waiting.
No offense to the dealers, but they’re all blowing smoke as every dealer has a different story for the QC hold. Consensus here (and also on the GX forums) is an issue with a small...
Maybe a quick hardwire and easily accessible posts?

Or you could cut the plug on the Viair and wire on a quick connect instead of the alligator clips (just won’t be able to use it on another’s battery).

Just bought a Viair 88P so I’ll probably...
Not advocating for using this for fuel.. but just saying an extra 14gal would be pretty nice!

Coupled with the spare on the RiG’d ultra swing...
Following as I have a Viair 88P in my Amazon shopping cart. Wish we could just plug into the inverter but I think the draw might be too much.. and it’s tough to find a Viair with both an AC and DC plug.
Same understanding here. There are a couple of buyers that have taken delivery of FEs during the hold but I believe those vehicles had cleared port/transport prior to it.
Was planning on heading down to the PNW Overland Expo at the end of June in the LC and my new RTT. Now I may be ground camping in a rental… oh well.

No way Toyota would knowingly assume that risk if leaking was the issue. They’d have plastic over all of the LCs on the lots to prevent this - and photos from this week show them uncovered and sitting. Doubt leaking is this issue.
My dealer told me a while back there was only one guy doing the roof rack installs at the Portland yard.. hopefully not the case as that would be a lot of trucks waiting on him - after the QC hold.
Sunroof issue makes sense as they would need to inspect each one. No recalls yet per the owners...

I didn’t want to buy a 5th tire for the spare right now and the tire shop offered me a $300 credit for the take off Michelins. I’ll run through these and then consider a lift and larger tires after the Toyos wear out.
Fellow PNW here and I decided to order the Toyo AT3 in a 10 ply - stock size (51lbs). Slightly less than the 55lb KO3 and I think they’ll be a little better in the rain and snow (I hope).
Hopefully economies of scale will drive down replacement battery costs by the time we need them - remember Toyota is going to be using the same battery in the 4R and Tacomas, so there will be a ton of demand and replacement production.
Found this on a Toyota dealer site - re the cost for replacement of Toyota hybrid batteries. I’m sure battery technology will evolve over the next decade, but that seems to at least be a manageable amount (especially compared to what I expect it will cost Rivian and Tesla owners)...
