I feel for you man. This was at my OWN HOME. Thankfully car was locked, and security camera spooked the potential thief. I also keep an AirTag hidden in my LC just in case.
I also live in Virginia and can tell you 3,700 miles in, not a single hiccup. Sadly these cases are outliers and happen with new vehicles. It's like a 98% chance you'll get a good one, 2% chance you find yourself in these situations, maybe less.
The first thing I did after I bought my LC was switching to KO3's (275's) on 18 inch wheels (those 20's are not off-roading material), and I bought the steel front/transmission plates as others here have mentioned. Makes a giant difference.
I got mine down to "2 miles left" (started at 294 miles) during a roadtrip and when I filled it at the pump: 15.3 gallons of gas (tank is 17.9). So you can easily go another 20-30 miles after you hit 0.
To my surprise this morning, I woke up to my security camera notifying me of a stranger approaching my brand new LC in my driveway. As you can see in the screenshots below, clearly the thief was after any valuables that I may have left in the truck. Thankfully he found nothing & the truck was...
Thought this was interesting, when I was having KO3's put on, I opted for the spare to get a tire swap as well. Discount Tire informed me (and I saw them struggling with this in person through the window in the waiting lobby) that the crank for lowering the spare didn't fully lower the tire...
I thought the same, I was in Iceland last month renting a RAV4 Hybrid & never had this issue while breaking. The Hybrid system in the LC/Tacoma/Grand Highlander (I-Force Max) is completely different than what's in a Camry/RAV4/Prius etc. because those vehicles are CVT's with dedicated electric...
And he deleted his post. Just buying online 101: Ask for pictures with a sticky note with today's date and your name for proof of item. Use PayPal or some payment with security for both buyer/seller to get your money back if something goes wrong. Never buy out of country.
Just to follow up, I did decide on doing the more expensive LC w/ premium package. Java Leather was worth waiting for (makes the LC feel a lot more premium in my eyes)
Honest thoughts:
+Biggest upgrade is the Traffic Jam Assist, wow does it work well. Helped in a 2 hour backup the other day on...
So I've had my LC for just over 2 weeks now. Put on 1,400 miles (😁) and have noticed inconsistent breaking. What I'm specifically talking about it is if I'm slowing down from 45-50mph to 0 for a stoplight, depending on how I'm breaking, you'll feel a hump or like your skipping over something as...
The shifting I thought was quite seamless, but I feel you on the breaking, has been a mixed bag. It’s like you’re going over a hump or something coming down from 45mph to 0 at a stoplight sometimes. I assume the hybrid motor is trying to regenerate power or there’s still too much energy in the...
After a week of driving from pickup, I've done a 7 hour roadtrip & 5 hour roadtrip. The 2nd of which had a 40 minute backup on I-95.. a great time to test traffic jam assist (TJA).
TJA indeed still works if you deactivate the monitor camera in the settings (thanks guys for letting me know...
Even after a reset, the computer has a funky way of calculating. Says I'm getting 18.5mpg but I just did a road trip, 5 hours / 290 miles / 13 gallons put in before I left (to full)... some quick math says I'm getting 22.3 mpg on that trip.
I'll eventually go to regular 87 gas but for now during the break in period, premium.
It's actually not that bad to fill up, at Costco in my area, its $3.60 a gallon for Premium, and from "empty" its a 13-14 gallon fill up: $48-ish
Since the tank is smaller, it beats out filling my 4Runner...
Bought some takeoff FE 18-inch wheels & slapped on the KO3's: 275/70/18
Obviously some increase in noise, but nothing that bad. Definitely helps with micro-bumps just in daily driving. Can't wait to take them on the trail soon!
