Should I buy the LC or something else?

The 2024 Land Cruiser 250 series is listed at 76.1” tall for the 1958 and 77.8” tall for a First Edition. The Land Cruiser LC trim is listed at 76.1” tall as well but the taller tires of the LC probably make that a typo, it will probably be taller than a 1958. If you have a roof rack you’ll end...

    Longevity of 2024+ LC

In fairness the 3.6L V6 GM makes is probably worse. Not to mention their AFM V8’s appetite for failed lifters.

    Longevity of 2024+ LC

I know you can’t disclose it but I would love to know what the source of debris was. I’m on the Tundra forum, and have followed this closely. My SWAG is a part or assembly from a supplier, but that is just a wild guess.

I was hoping for 500 miles per tank!

The battery lives above the frame rails inside the cab. Should be no reason the larger 21 gallon GX fuel tank wouldn’t fit. My guess is Toyota is trying to save payload anywhere they can. Gasoline weighs 6lbs per gallon, and a larger fuel tank also weighs more. TFLTruck did a towing test with...

4Runner Owner: 1958 Test Drive Impressions

The Sequoia represents a half baked product from a standpoint of addressing what customers in that segment actually want to buy. They want a Toyota version of a Tahoe/Suburban with Toyota build quality and reliability. Toyota managed to fail to build a vehicle that is functional like a...

4Runner Owner: 1958 Test Drive Impressions

Reliability problems should factor into a purchase decision. V35A-FTS equipped vehicles represent a significant risk in downtime requiring a lengthy repair process if Toyota persists with sending short blocks to be reassembled by dealer technicians into complete engines using cylinder heads and...

4Runner Owner: 1958 Test Drive Impressions

Third Gen Sequoias don’t pull trailers. They get pulled on trailers when the V35A-FTS under the hood eats a bearing. What a shit show Toyota has on their hands right now. Hybrids avoided the recall, but my guess is only because the electric motor will provide enough motive power to limp to the...

Newbie advice for taking care of car

At least on the T24A-FTS there’s only one bank of cylinders and the DOHC layout means the coil on plug packs and spark plugs are right up top. Easy to access. Probably a 30 minute DIY job with the spark plug socket plus 6” worth of extensions. At least that is how deep the spark plugs on my...

Round vs rectangular headlights - interchangeable?

As an example a Toyota Grand Highlander uses single projector LED lights, and is rated as “acceptable” by the IIHS. https://www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/toyota/grand-highlander-4-door-suv/2024#headlights Meanwhile higher trim level Tundra models with triple beam LED projectors get the highest...

Round vs rectangular headlights - interchangeable?

The Land Cruiser trim gets rectangular triple beam LED projectors. The 1958 gets them because it has to hit a price point and have retro looks, the First Edition is just a strait up money grab, so inferior cheap headlights for more $$$ pads Toyota’s bottom line.

Round vs rectangular headlights - interchangeable?

Well I would bet money that the rectangular units with 3 projectors on each side that are probably optically designed to cast light in a particular pattern and focus will outperform the round units with a single projector. Both in pattern and total lumens and candela.

FE Trail Dust Wheel Color Combo

I personally don’t think it would be a good look. Plus they’ll end up showing a lot of dirt and grime, and rust should you get actual steelies. Bronze would look good, as will black. Leave the while wheels to flat brim hat wearing types who buy Land Rovers.

Let us HOPE the repair for the port holds are not this complex!

The fact I can’t buy a Land Cruiser with JBL and the HUD without a damn sunroof is making me lean more towards a GX500 Overtrail because you can get that without a sunroof and still get other options. Toyota’s options packaging of the LC250 sucks.

Can you help me with this lease? Numbers inside

If that’s the case then leasing is a bad idea. If you can only afford to drive it by leasing I suggest pumping the brakes on getting a new vehicle. If you can afford to finance it to purchase go for it. Leasing a Toyota makes no sense unless you need a business write off. They’re vehicles you...

4Runner Owner: 1958 Test Drive Impressions

I test drove a Sequoia a month or so ago. The only thing I liked was the engine and transmission. The cargo area is deeply compromised, there is no full time 4 wheel drive with a Torsen center differential, and visibility was sub par. Hard pass on that and the Tundra.

Yep. Let the cool kids pay to be beta testers. That’s what I did with the Gen 3 Tundra. Glad I did. Dodged a bullet there. The wailing and gnashing of teeth on Tundra forums is epic right now. 4Runner Owner: 1958 Test Drive Impressions

That’s another option I have seriously considered. Trade in the truck and buy a utility trailer. However that will shift my buying decision more in favor of a GX550 for the higher tow rating. One really nice thing with a utility trailer is they last forever with maintenance, and the ramps make...

I was hoping for 500 miles per tank!

I don’t think Lexus Parts has any part numbers up for the GX550. I have been looking for the part numbers for the turbos to see if they’re identical to the Tundra, Sequoia, and LX600. Lexus claims they’re smaller turbos, just as Toyota does for the Tundra SR… yet a part lookup reveals they are...

I was hoping for 500 miles per tank!

I will be curious to know if the 21 gallon tank from the GX550 will bolt right into place in the new LC 250? I don’t see why not, given that the hybrid battery is living life inside the cabin above the frame rails. Might be a worthy mod in the future, and use Toyota OEM parts.

I have no desire to own a FE LC, or the 1958. I will predict that the headlight performance of the triple projector beam rectangular headlights will be better than the round single projector base model lights. I drive at night a lot in an area with large wildlife, so headlight performance is...

2024 Land Cruiser require Premium Fuel?

I would hope so, but Toyota is famously conservative. That conservative mindset does make me optimistic that the T24A-FTS will be fine in all engine load conditions with 87 Octane. Toyota has been good in the past understanding that most of their customers are cheap skates and want their...
