    Land Cruisers are easily stolen.

https://comma.ai/ RAV4s (non Primes) can be stolen easily with the CANbus injection hack. Newer Toyotas use encrypted signals so you can’t just hack into the headlights and send an “open doors” signal. Comma AI need to send steering values I believe to the car for their self driving system.

    Land Cruisers are easily stolen.

Newest Toyotas have encrypted CAN buses so this video doesn’t apply to the LC. Comma AI has been trying to crack the security key without any luck. They need it to control the car for their ADAS (FSD like) system. My guess is fob cloning via OBD2 port.

    Land Cruisers are easily stolen.

None of these AirTag suggestions will help. Vehicle theft in Toronto/Ontario is due to organized crime (I lived there for ten years). They target vehicles that can be stripped for parts and most end up overseas. Motorcycle theft was extremely bad there too. Faraday pouches, ODB2 port locks...

    Anyone purchasing below MSRP?

Correct. Dealers can request to add or remove port installed items but almost all do not. They might be the only Toyota dealer in FL without a dealer fee also. A rare breed indeed.

    Anyone purchasing below MSRP?

Nope. TOYOGUARD is a forced SET mafia add on. The rest are added at port and needed to be removed before it lands at port. Those are added by the dealer and SET mafia. Basically I tell folks that buying a Toyota in Florida automatically adds $3K. Dealer fee, $699 TOYOGUARD, plus random added junk.

    Anyone purchasing below MSRP?

I had to dig up the quote from Abby for a low option mid-trim back in late May. Anyhow there are auto brokers offering them $4-5K discounted so that's another option for folks. I got the Corvette C8 bug baaaaaadly after test driving a friend's car so no LC for me. The whole new car market...

    Anyone purchasing below MSRP?

Crazy. When they first arrived they were asking $5K or $10K markup plus some junk add ons. And they kept calling.

Can you negotiate below MSRP if you are pre-approved?

Bleeding my ass. Market forces work both direction. After recording profits for 2+ years straight... the market has switched and there's a glut of new (overpriced) vehicles on the lot. Blame the carmakers to jacking up new car prices. I argue MSRP for oversupplied vehicles is too much to pay...

Can you negotiate below MSRP if you are pre-approved?

1958s have been discounted for a while now and Southeast Toyota dealers just received a train full of allocations (each dealer seems to have 10-15 each). I would actually wait a month and ask for $1-2K off at least.

Toyota Land Cruiser vs Ford Bronco

Yeah like you I was looking for a nicer more modern 4Runner. Something also not built in the Texas/Mexico with QC issues (cough... my former Sequoia) and not a Jeep (my lifters/rockers on the Grand Cherokee were replaced at 6K). With ventilated seats and JBL it should match the GC's level of...

Toyota Land Cruiser vs Ford Bronco

Be curious of what you think. I still interested in the LC but to replace my GC Limited as an all-rounder and not the Bronco. I took my Bronco to an off-road playground park that I would only bring a Wrangler or Bronco or heavily customized rig to... I would never have brought my former Rivian...

It Appears Inventory is Finally Increasing....

Two FL dealers I follow have 15 LCs each. One of the had a free raffle to win a chance to buy an LC back when the first allocations of them it. They are an MSRP only dealer. Today, I could walk in and take my pick I guess.

Toyota Land Cruiser vs Ford Bronco

Also like the LC, the higher Bronco trims have leather, 360 cameras, 10 speaker audio, upgraded HOSS 3.0 suspension, etc. Comparing a base to a 1958 is pretty reasonable but there is at least a $10K if not $15K price difference. The Base was a great value trim for the Bronco but Ford cut it.

Talking to dealers around me about stock and MSRP...

Toyota in the US doesn't do custom orders... same with Hyundai and Kia (except for the Telluride that is built in GA). Ford, BMW, MINI, etc are the carmakers that custom build to order. I might be wrong about demand though... I thought new Tacomas would command markups for a year but it seems...

Talking to dealers around me about stock and MSRP...

Large population + deep pockets... there will be plenty who will pay ADM without the intention of flipping it. Same with Miami folks... plenty of dinero willing to overpay there. Toyota needs to ramp up supply to meet the demand - which I don't see happening for the first 6-12 months.

Talking to dealers around me about stock and MSRP...

I went through the same thing with the new Sequoia last year. Markups from $10K to $20K. These days it’s MSRP or a tiny discount. Some dealers still think they are rare and unicorns but they can sit on it for for a few months. What pushed demand was overseas buyers (Sequoia was only built in...

Would you give up off-road capability for better mpg?

Nah, I have a 2.7L (Auto) Heritage it is smoother than the non-Sas geared 2.3L. Janky tractor is an apt description. It all depends on what you are used it. The Rivian R1S I just sold to make room for the new Heritage was butter smooth on the road like all EVs are. The 2.3L Big Bend was like...

Would you give up off-road capability for better mpg?

Nah. The real reason folks will adopt EVs is the same reason we have automatic transmission. Ease and simplicity. Manual transmission is more gas efficient and they were more popular in Europe than North America. I commute daily with an EV rather than a janky tractor... but off-roading? 100%...

First sound clip on the new 4 banger

The 2.3L I4 is buzzy and underpowered with the default non-Sasquatch 3.73 (?) gearing. The 2.7 V6 with Sasquatch gearing (reduces mpg though) is vastly better. I'm not expecting the LC engine to sound good at all. You want a good sounding engine.. buy a 392 Wrangler with a Hemi or the Lexus GX...

First sound clip on the new 4 banger

Toyota does that on the new Sequoia (and I think the new Tundra too). It was stupid and required a dealership to program it off. Don't care how the engine sounds. It's a Toyota. I do care the new LC has JBL audio - which isn't as good as modern premium audio systems (the JBL in my 23 Sequoia...

Would you give up off-road capability for better mpg?

No. If you don't want an off-road vehicle with locking diffs there are TONS of other options with better mpg. Separately, I wish Toyota didn't go with a turbo-4 rather than the tried and true NA engines in other hybridized vehicles like the RAV4 Prime and Prius. The new Sequoia lost a ton of...

    Land Cruiser Target Market

My bad. I thought the LC was slightly smaller than the 4Runner and GC.... if they are about the same size then they are basically the direct competitors then. The GC has a Trailhawk trim and in the past included various locking diffs and two-speed transfer case. Ground clearance isn't amazing on...

    Land Cruiser Target Market

For an older Toyota it is quiet but new Toyotas like Grand Highlander and the 3-row competition like Telluride, Palisade, etc. are definitely quieter. I drove my friend's 2012(?) and his wife's 2019 4Runners... both relatively quiet on the highway at 70mph. I measured mid/high 60 dB but that's...

    Land Cruiser Target Market

I think the LC is a Defender or "smaller" 4Runner alternative or smaller Grand Cherokee alternative. It doesn't compete with road-only crossovers like the RAV4, Tucson, Santa Fe, etc. no matter if they have so called AWD. LC would probably steal some Outback owners away too. I know Wrangler and...

Toyota Land Cruiser vs Ford Bronco

As a former RAV4 Prime and 23 Sequoia owner and current Bronco owner... I'm super interested in the Land Cruiser primarily because it isn't built in the US lol. My RAV4 Prime was reliable + boring and had zero QC issues. Made in Japan. My Sequoia... yeah... let's not go there.
