It’s difficult to explain and I’m not the best person to explain it but a-trac will apply brake to the wheel with the least traction or greatest slip and apply power to wheels with better traction. There are good write ups about Toyota 4wd systems. Do a google search for a-trac, mts, and crawl...
Center lock is locking the driveshaft’s together. Rear lock is locking the rear axles together which is very hard on the axles. I’m sure it can be done but people would forget them locked in high range and blow out the axles. Perhaps that’s Toyotas reason, I really don’t know. I know that my...
I just looked on the Toyota site under the “build” section-protection list carpet floor mats, carpet cargo mat, and all weather cargo mat. IMHO I believe all weather floor mats are standard. Any cargo mat is a PIO as are the carpet floor mats.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that most people religiously following the 91+ octane recommendations will not be following the recommended tire size.
Toyotas are not “ordered”. The dealers get allocations and can swap allocations with other dealers to get a vehicle equipped similar to what the customer is looking for.
I look at it as the lc is made in Japan, many of them coming from the Tahara plant, especially mine. Whereas the tundra probably made in Mexico, Canada, or even worse USA made by union workers.
I still can’t help but think maybe this was a planned “qc hold”. Toyota gets a bunch of vehicles allocated to consumers. Place a hold on the vehicles. Reveal the 4Runner to see how many people cancel their allocation to wait on a 4r. Or after the 4r reveal how many people jump on the lc train...
All good points mentioned by fellow members. The one thing I would add is that 20” rims probably handle better on the road because of less tire and flex. You may feel every crack more but it will be more responsive in the corners.
Not sure on lc but 4Runner is red. It sometimes takes a while to fully engage, the more it gets used it will get better. I wouldn’t use it for shits and giggles though, or if you want to engage it from time to time do it on a straight path. Lockers are hard on axels.
It depends on your situation. I’m going with lc trim mostly for the MTS. My situation is probably different from most others on the forum. I’m in deep snow a lot, MTS, and a shovel, really helped me in my 4Runners.
Don’t know how true it is but my dealer told me today the qc delay is the passenger side air bag not deployable while window is rolled down. His first 2 allocations are on that hold. He was able to trade an allocation for me (1958—>lc) with a dealer down state. Different batch than the qc holds...
I kept swapping the racks on my ‘10 4Runner trail to newer ones in the fleet when I inherited them. That rack was the best imo from factory. It looked better and was a couple inches higher for my canoe. Anyway, I always put 100% silicone bead around the circumference of those plastic tubes. You...
