The 3.5" REF307F fit much easier in the dash spots. The mounting bracket is about 5mm too short to reach both screws, but i built a platform out of sound dampening material that seems to hold it well enough
I wish i had taken a side by side, the 3.5" is almost half the size of the 4", and very...
The dash speakers are the easiest upgrade you can do, and I have a feeling the most noticeable
I wasn't sure what to get for the center speaker, since it is only a 3.5" woofer and no tweeter, there aren't a ton of options for something like that. Was looking for something with decent frequency...
I think the illustrations from EOD Guy just show that it uses all the woofers from the stereo to generate the ANC sound, not that they are exclusively for ANC.
I suspect the "6 speaker" is for 1958 and the "except 6 speaker" is LC/FE
I am 100% sure that the 20cm speaker in the hatch on the LC...
They pull straight up from the front and sort of hinge on the back. It is helpful to use a flat trim tool to pry it, but be careful b/c the dash is soft
They consider the base system 10 speaker, but its only 8 channel, so there's no guarantee that speakers == channels. I think the extra 4 speakers in the JBL are just another set of dash speakers in the rear hatch, and they consider those 2 speakers each since it is a woofer + tweeter
I dug into the LC trim base stereo and did some measuring and upgrades. The sub is definitely connected and functional in the LC trim, but crossed over pretty aggressively, only from around 20-150hz.
Not sure about the 1958 trim, it is possible that it only has a 6 channel stereo (4 doors + 2...
I think that is one of the differentiators for the new MTS, that it can be used in both 4-high and 4-low. There is a "deep snow" setting that is only available in 4-high, but they are mostly tweaks to the traction control for offroad
The 4" REF407F speakers are just a touch too big I think. The mounting brackets align with the screw holes, and one can barely squeeze on the passenger side, but the AC vent is too high on the drivers side, so the speaker sticks up half and inch or so too high. I have the 3.5" coming later...
Thanks! The 4" dash speakers should be here Wednesday. I think they will have the biggest impact since those are doing the bulk of the driving for anything 4-500hz and up. Hence why i am trying the 4", I am pretty sure i can get it to fit on the passenger side, but the hole on the driver side...
I have an LC trim non-premium and wanted to upgrade the stereo. Luckily I have a calibrated UMIK-1 microphone to do some comparisons.
First off I wanted to see what was included with the OEM stereo
I found this press release which matches what i found when i pulled the door panels. It is...
I saw that, thanks. Just want to make sure there aren't any sneaky screws like the doors.
Did you drop the door control before or after the trim was off?
I have a long downhill decent heading into my neighborhood, frequently the engine will shut off and run just electric for the last 0.5 mile of slow neighborhood driving. This is verified by 0 RPMs on the tach, and any small acceleration showing on the Max guage
Mine will fill up to full bars...
I have a collection of old random cans, I think the one that fit was from a ~12 year old can of "Quick Color" but it could just be a random cap i have been hording. It needs to be 62-63mm in diameter
It took me a while to find it too, it is hidden by default. (Not sure if this applies to 1958 trim)
While you are editing the dash screen, move over to edit the right (or left) dial, then move the same direction again towards the outside of the screen. This will bring up a selection screen, and...
I gave up on the mask, my old resin printer is too janky to have enough precision to get the letters right.
Ended up breaking out the old mini paint brush and hand painting the letters, then found a spray paint can cap that was the perfect diameter to shield the outer ring to spray that with...
This sounds like a solid theory. I just hit 950 miles so I will see if my mpg changes at 1000. I have been watching the hybrid max gauge and noticed the same thing, that it barely kicks in and just hovers mostly around 60% charge
I finally got my caps in this morning, they were back ordered then I was travelling. Working on modeling a mask today, if I can get it lined up I will share it
It looks like weathertech has one listed for the 2024 LC now, skeptical though b/c it has a bunch of reviews from years ago for 2006 LCs...

I wonder how it compares the the OEM mat
I was picking up drive through in my underground LC the other day, and one of the kids working the line asked if he could take some pictures b/c he loved it so much, that was a first for me
if you click the "See included features" under Premium Package there it's pretty clear that it includes the moonroof. The $850 option is to get a moon roof without the premium package
