First of all, it is true for all the 1958s at the dealership where mine is reserved. Second, there are many reasons a vehicle can be on hold at the port. Did your sales person share the delivery timeline (example below) showing QC hold for your vehicle? If so please share with the forum.
That's a nice feature for locking from the inside, for camping etc. What scenario makes sense where you lock with the mechanical key from the outside but want the hybrid system to stay on?
Not so sure about that, it wouldn't explain why the 1958 trim doesn't have the QC hold. My sales guy sent me screenshots showing their 1958 allocations not on hold, but the rest are. However the dealership explanation of a sunroof issue does line up with all the LC premium and FE holds.
This is the dealership where mine is on hold. Just talked to my sales guy and he said this vehicle has been on their lot for a couple weeks and made it through the port before the QC hold. Unfortunately this doesn't look like it means anything to those of us with a QC hold.
Dang, that is the dealer where mine is reserved! My sales guy said all are still on hold at ports but clearly that's not the case. Need to make a phone call...
How do you see which POIs are still on your vehicle? Smartpath doesn't show my vehicle, and the My Toyota account website is giving me a 'site temporarily unavailable' error.
Got this response from them yesterday:
"Great news, this is on our list of vehicles to pattern and we will let you know when it's available on the site."
Looks like the 'R' is the year, for 2024: Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN codes)/Toyota/VIN Codes - Wikibooks, open books for an open world
The next character is for the plant, 5 is Tahara and K shows up as Hamura, Japan (Hino Motors) in this list: Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN...

I haven't asked the dealership about cost, but that seems reasonable. Right now the challenge is availability, but once we're past the first delivery wave I'm assuming parts will start to become available.
I don't know if it's consistent, but with mine the dealer had allocation and reserved it for me at the point where his system showed "production confirmed" but build phase hadn't started yet.
