I’m planning to install a 50A Anderson plug near the hitch of my LC for dual purposes: charging my trailer batteries while driving through existing trailer DC/DC charger and powering a portable compressor for airing up/down regularly.
Plan:
Run 6-gauge positive wire with a 30A breaker and 30A 4-pin relay from the rear battery compartment to the Anderson plug at the hitch.
Route the positive 6ga wire through a modified rubber plug (as a grommet) above the rear exhaust tip and come out near 7pin hitch plug.
Ground the relay using the tire jack bolt and at the Anderson plug black 6ga wire to an exterior ground bolt near the hitch.
Use the relay to control power, with an ignition signal wire (yellow) run to the dash rheostat for the interior lights as the trigger source.
Questions:
1. What’s the best way to route wires from the driver-side rear battery compartment to the hitch area?
2. Is there an easier ignition signal source than running the yellow wire all the way to the dashboard?
Additional context: I plan to add a 12V outlet for a weBoost in the rear compartment and would use the same ignition trigger for it in the future.
Thanks for any advice or suggestions!
