All my other cars have had lights on the underside of the hood that turn on when the hood is open. I'm really missing this on the cruiser. Does anybody have any good aftermarket light recommendations for this application?

The more interesting question is why you've never needed to open the hood in the dark 
... Probably have AAA in speed dial....

Found this LED kit that includes a position switch to turn on the light only when the hood is open, as well as an override switch to force off if/when necessary.

That would be nice. I find a headlamp is a good general solution to sticking my head in various dark places. Yeah... that does sounds bad...
I have found an LED flashlight with a magnetic base is far more useful than under-hood lights. Seems like with the permanent mounted lights, every time you need to look at something, your head creates a shadow and you end up with a flashlight anyway.

You know that is a great idea, I’m interested as well. My first truck had a small light on a reel you pulled out. The attached wire was about ten feet long. The link posted looks like a great kit. I am on board with supporting sticker fab as well.
