Land Cruiser First Minor Issue: Moonroof Rattling

Just noticed today while driving around the city, I hear a small ratting noise, kind of like moonroof slightly hitting something, causing a ratting/vibrating sound.
Upon further investigation, I believe it is coming from the moonroof. The noise can be recreated by slightly tapping the moonroof.

Anybody experienced same issue?
I did a quick google search, seemed like some of the 2024 Tundras had a similar issue.

Before taking anything apart, see if you can apply spray wax or if you have it, gummi pflege where the rubber meets the metal. Water would probably be ok too for the sake of an experiment. In my experience a creak can be confused for a squeak, and vice versa.

Tried with some spray wax but seems like it is still there.

Acknowledging that I hear it. Definitely not a squeak. When I get outside I'll see where it could be coming from. I've taken apart multiple sunroof cassettes over the years.

Thank you sir! Given the port hold on moonroofs, makes me wonder if this is related to what they did.
 
Looks like it's put together like most modern sunroofs. You can pull that accordion piece towards the inside of the car, it just clips into place. Retract the roof shade all the way and you'll see where that accordion piece is exposed in the back and can get a finger behind it.

Bolts that hold the glass in are now exposed. Tap on the glass again and see if the problem gets louder. If it's really coming from the glass mounting points, you should hear it more clearly now that the accordion piece is out of the way.

These are the bolts that fine-tune the alignment of the glass relative to the body. Not unthinkable someone forgot to tighten one during the alignment process.

To be honest, I'd let the dealer deal with it, if that's a feasible option for you. I had a friend that had a Acura TDX with a noisy moon roof. They ended up replacing the track system due to misalignment and the tracks got twisted. She didn't have to pay as it was covered under warranty.

Thanks for the write up!
I was a little bit afraid of pulling out the accordion skirt (did a quick Youtube, someone called it that way, lol), but it wasn't too bad. 2 bolts were exposed on each side. Tried to tighten them but they were all very tight. The image shows what one of the bolt looks like.
It does seem like the noise is coming from the front of moonroof, can't really tell exactly where but sounded like glass was touching metal.

I was thinking about that but need the vehicle for a camping trip this weekend. If it is a quick fix, then I can just DIY and get it out of the way.

I thought so too, thanks for the suggestion!

Interesting enough, earlier when I made a right turn while driving, the noise disappeared for a while but then came back again.
I’m wondering if the right turn somehow tightened the frame or some sort causing it to disappear.
 
You might be able to narrow down the area (IDK) by slightly opening the roof, I'm talking just getting the motor to turn but not opening the glass and push up to see if it has the same feel, repeat the process using fractions of motor movement vs glass movement. Once the glass opens, use the same procedure while closing. My thought process, the lifting mechanism may not be pulling the glass down far enough for a good seal, hence the rattling. If that's the case, it should be adjustable.

I'd definitely throw a roll of clear packing tape in the vehicle until you get it sorted out, just in case you get caught in some rain and the drain can't keep up. Note: in you have to use the clear tape, don't leave it on there for more than a day or so......... after a couple of sun cycles the residue is hard to remove.
